    Need help please

Hey guys Iā??m new to this forum and heard this this site was a good place for noobs to learn how to grow. To start off I have never done a grow, so this is completely new to me. I have read on how to grow and done some research on it but all that goes out the window cause you tend to forget what you read when you start your first grow. Now I know my first mistake was not haven to proper set up to grow. I was going to do an outside grow but learned real quickly I got some noisy neighbors, so I had to turn it to an indoor grow, which I donā??t have the means for yet. Second mistake was using miracle grow moisture control 6 month feed soil along with their timing schedule always different which is my fault but hey this is just an experiment to learn for my next grow, whatā??s sad is that the plants I have one is Acapulco gold and the other is Columbian gold, got these seeds from a 70 year old smoker who had saved all these seeds for over 30 years, had 60 AG seeds and 43 CG seeds I germinated 40 AG seeds and only got one seedling I also germinated 20 CG seeds and got one seedling any way this has become more stressful than enjoyable 1 plant has already fell down and broke a few steams, the other the light fixture fell on it and broke a couple of steams off. Now I learn that using time released soil will kill your plants when you flush for flowering so now Iā??m thinking about taking the plant up, rinse the roots off and plant them in fox farms soil. Is this a good idea? plants are like a month and week old. Also Iā??m concerned about the lighting I have 4 23w cfls with a total of 6400 lum. And 20000k Iā??m going to be adding 2 more of the same lights tomorrow. I was wondering if you can buy MH light bulbs that screw into clap light fixtures. Do you know if this is possible? Can anyone tell me why my leafs are turning yellow for? One last thing should I bud the female or hope for a male and female and make seeds?

There really isn't nothing wrong with Miracle Gro.. its usually sphagnum peat moss and forest composted products just like most potting mixes. I don't think it's too hot for the plants, they actually look pretty damn good. I wouldn't panic about them, just take preventative measures. If the lower leaves are yellowing and its slowly progressing up the plant it's usually NITROGEN. I wouldn't take the plants and wash the roots just to put them in Fox Farms, would probably cause more stress and FF is almost always hotter than MG. If I were you I would've tried to get a male and female of each strain to cross, but you could always cross the Acapulco and Colombian. If the seeds are what he says they are it's very unlikely that you will see those genetics again, not ones that are 30+ yrs old. I would do everything to preserve them.

I'm an old smoker and all I use are MG products, and I grow some dam fine smoke. It's only hot for a short time...not 6 months...that's hype. At least it won't stay hot for weed that long. There are NO flushing issues at the end of flowering...you will have to feed and transplant those babies eventually. As you near the end of the flower phase, you simply back off the nutes your feeding them and begin flushing. MG does not kill plants when flushing unless your flushing with full outdoor strength MG all purpose! I DO cut the MG African violet soil I buy with half a bag of perlite per bag of Soil, and add two handfuls of vermiculite, mix it well and that's all I use for everything. The AF MG soil is pretty correct on Ph for weed, so it requires fewer adjustments. If you want to grow good weed, you should pay more attention to Ph than nearly anything else. Hard to diagnose anything without knowing the Ph. Good Luck and keep asking questions...it's how I learned!
