Here's something interesting about plant's ability to communicate, it blew my mind. It's real man, so nature deserves the respect just like every living thing on our planet. Well maybe not those bugs from hell like aphids and mosquitoes.

"The results demonstrate the ability of plants and other 'simple' organisms to learn, remember and respond to environmental challenges in ways so far known in complex creatures with a central nervous system," says Novoplansky of the Blaustein Institute for Desert Research.

    Imagine the applications...

"You can create a network of sensors on a large field, and it can tell the farmer where the infection is," Ramasamy said. "Then, he can localize the application of pesticides or herbicides."

Gagliano imagines that root-to-root alerts could transform a forest into an organic switchboard. "Considering that entire forests are all interconnected by networks of fungi, maybe plants are using fungi the way we use the Internet and sending acoustic signals through this Web. From here, who knows," she said.

hmmm - so when we use pots, it's like solitary?

no wonder houseplants are supposed to thrive when you talk to them.

Read the secret life of plants- don't watch the video- boring but the book is fascinating. There is another great video out there- how plants communicate is the name of it- it will bring a new meaning to walking into your growroom and being overwhelmed with a skunky smell!
