    First Outdoor Grow

I am new to growing outdoors. So Im making this thread to log all of my progress and for others to input there knowledge. I started a little early but I live in california and its already been hitting 80 degrees everyday. Im only growing 2 plants from seed, both are the same unknown "purple" strain. Enough talk, heres some pics.

This is from the beginning of Week 1, I germinated the seeds using the paper towel technique and put them in these ceramic pots with Miracle Grow potting soil

By the end of Week 1 they started to turn a little yellow and I was concerned but I figured it was because it was a little early to start growing.

Beginning of week 2 started to show some growth. I havent used any nutes yet.

These are from today, Week 3.
I transplanted them out of the ceramic pots to these 7 gallon plastic pots a few days ago. because I hear nothing but bad stuff when using the ceramic ones. They seem to be liking their new homes  (both pots have probably only 5gallons of fresh miracle grow soil in them because I didnt have enough) The one on the left has always seemed a bit bigger for some reason, hopefully its not male. I also started using a very small dose of Fox farm Grow big (2teaspoons per gallon) and in the past 2 days they are growing much faster.

easy with the grow big its strong. i wouldnt use more than 25% of the recommended ratio especially where they are in perfertilized soil. just keep an eye out for burn.

Those obviously arent my plants haha those are my moms roses. But everyday, around 3 of these fuckers will fly over and land on my babies :wtf: I just pluck them off, they dont seem to be doing any damage but they dont look pretty and I dont want them to take over like they did with the roses. What pesticides do you guys recommend? Or is there an organic solution that I could try?

holy crap that is one of the worst infestations i have seen in a loong while.....thats bad juju. kill them with extreme prejudice. never had a problem like that. my old man used to use tobacco juice and a tiny bit of dish soap on his roses. not sure what a good commercial solution is. probably anything that will kill aphids.

I will do that to the roses to test it out, but if they infest my babies would it cause damage if I sprayed the leaves? Not in direct sunlight of course

Yup, my girl recommended spraying a little dish soap (have an organic based) & performed gr8t. Watch the ladies cuz they will hop on board!!! Had an infestation on my indica's & they were fubar (toast). With that said ur girls look nice. I'm working my babes indoors for now & hopefully move outdoors soon. We should compare notes cuz I'm approx. 2 weeks behind you. Oh, don't over water!! Peace

    Thank you.
I have a 6 foot fence and a shit ton of tweekers in my neighborhood, so Im already getting parinoid lol. Im planning on putting some barbwire up and a trip wire that goes to a small alarm once they start flowering. But Im debating doing LST or fimming them so they arent sticking their beautiful coloas over my fence. Any thoughts? Ive never done it but it seems pretty easy to do

Both plants are getting attacked by what I believe are Thrips.
They sorta look like caterpillars but they dont crawl around like a caterpillar, the run and hop like fleas.

About three days ago, the taller plant had a spot on one of its leaves. It was the first sign of damage on either plant, so I flipped it over and sure enough there was one of these "thrips"

The next day it turned into these brown spots, but after I removed the pest, no further damage was done to my girl.

Yesterday I noticed a few walking around on the shorter plant and they left these little white dots.
    Attachment 290978Attachment 290979

So I used a mixture of plant based biodegradable dish soap and water and sprayed both plants. I believe it got rid of them.
But I still found an aphid on my taller plant this morning so I still have to figure out how to get rid of those.
