1st timer, multiple questions to come lol
Start with reading all the "sticky's" here you can.
"First off, what are the differences in nutrient needs for indica and sativa? I will be growing both, but separate.
Secondly, how long does it take to hit the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage? I know it's prolly depending on what strain, but about how long do you guys think? And what should I look for? Pistils should be showing about a week or two after flowering starts."
Very little difference in the nutrient needs, although reading the plants and watering/feeding times may be slightly different. Local conditions will dictate what these will be for in your area. They will veg until the sun starts getting lower in the south (assuming you are in the northern hemisphere) and the daylight/nighttime ratio is about 50/50 or 12 hours of light and 12 of darkness, and they flower off how much dark they get. Strains have little to do with it, unless you have an auto-flowering type. Yes, flowers will begin to appear a few weeks after they begin to flower and they get done when the trichomes are all cloudy to partial amber when viewed under magnification of some kind. This can vary greatly from strain to strain as do yields.
Hope this helps, but you will do well to read everything you can here about outdoor growing and then just dive in! No teacher like experience!
