I have alittle issue. I'm 27 years old and my Dad is piss testing me. He will give me three chances. After the first fail which i will fail because i have been smoking on and off for 8 months i will retake After the second failure i will be disowned by them, meaning no getting help from my parents. Then If i fail the third time he will call my boss and have me terminated for smoking pot. I work for a oil company now and its been over a year since i got drug tested.. I have synthetic for that. Never had to use it but heard alot about it. I can't sub bc he will definately watch me. Any suggestions??? the first test will be on april 16th. the second will be on 30th. and if needed the third will be may 14th.

At 27 years old, you have the right to refuse any drug test given by your parents. If they choose to burn domestic bridges as a result, then so be it. One day, they will become old enough to where they cannot take care of themselves and need all the help they can get.

My dad once told me (not long before he went off to happy hunting ground) to "never burn any bridges - you may have to cross them again someday".

Pretty much. Rule around here is that if I pay the bills and you're living under my roof, I get to make all the rules.

Simple deal vermilion... Your Dad is telling you it's time to grow up and he's given you a deadline. He's tired of your shit and is drawing a line in the sand. I'm as pot friendly as anyone, but I'll bet a paycheck that you haven't been responsible about it, and it probably isn't even about the pot.

Burnt Toast is right, but his approach is antagonistic and wrong. The nursing home defense sets up a wall when you should be trying to tear the walls down. <JMHO>

What is your Dad *really* pissed about? Figure THAT out. Here's the deal with Dads: If you're pulling 110% of your weight, we don't give a fuck if you toke up. If we're supporting your lazy 27 year old ass, look for consequences and they may be harsh. The parents of rock stars NEVER complain.

I've seen a lot of lazy 27 year old bums who leeched of their parents for too long while "trying to figure life out." Some have spent time in prison. I'm not saying that this is you (seriously, don't know your story), but there really aren't many conclusions one can draw from a 27 year old living under a drug test threat from Dad.

Guess I'm a "tough love" asshole, but I'm pretty sure that pot ain't the real issue here (and your Dad knows this).

After rereading this, I must ask: Why would there be a third test should your parents sever ties with you after failing the second test, and why would you even allow them to conduct a third test after they had severed ties with you? It doesnt make any sense. Once your parents have disowned you, youre on your own and the whole matter should be closed right then and there.
