    Why transparent multiple time?

I've seen some people mention that they transparent from cups to 1-3 gallon containers and finally to 5 gallon containers. What's the reasoning behind all the extra trouble and work? Why not just transparent the clones straight to a 5 gallon or what ever size you plan on flowering them in in the first place?

Roots expand before foilage grows - So when a plant is rootbound, the foilage expands to maximum capacity (then slows when it catches up with the roots) Transplnting gives the roots more room to grow, and then the foilage fills in again. Doing it more than once is unnecessary but I would start in a solocup for soil, and then move on to a 5 gallon bucket, that way at least your roots are getting the energy they need.

I knew why it made since to do it the the first time, but it made no since to me why some people went up in steps - transplanting multiple times (cup, 1-3gal, then lastly 5 gal).. I thought maybe they knew something I didn't know.

I go from cup to 1 gal to 3 gal. The reason i do it is because my veg area is a lot smaller than my flower and because every time i transplant, the plant gets some fresh soil. A small plant in a big pot could cause trouble with a noob when it comes to watering also. I personally dont use a lot of nutes so the more the soil can do for me the better. If i went straight into a 5 gal, by the time it went through at least 2 month veg and at least two month flower, that soil gets pretty depleted and needs more care. I use the cup for seedling, 1 gal for veg, then flower in 3 gal. Nothing added except water til about the 3rd or 4th week in flower. That one extra transplant actually saves me on nutes and time in the long run. Im not saying anybody is wrong in their choice im just stating why I choose to do it this way.
