At first, I naively considered hydroponics shop people to be the legitimate source of information; like those â??Apple Geniusesâ??. They always believe that they are doing me a favor of some sort; by suggesting items I had not requested for. good story i think most people might not be aware of that stuff. frustratingly enough, that just is the nature of just about all retail business. they will always push the products with the best profit margins and incentives. but if they really know their business they will respect your opinion. theres better profit in making a sale rather than letting one walk out the door because you want to push a certain product.

Your best source of info is this site that you're on right now. A lot of answers for common newbie questions can be found in the FAQs, that's always nice and helpful, and then when it comes to specifics, go to the listing of forums, find one that covers what you're interested in and dive in and find out all about it. Besides, doesn't it just make sense that, if you have questions about growing, get your answers from folks who have been growin' it successfully for years (as opposed to some shop owner)?
