Questions about Nutrients and soil for 1st grow

Hi im planting for the first time this spring, ive got 3, 5 gallon buckets (with holes in the bottom for drainage) and i will be putting about a 2 inch layer of rocks at the bottom of each bucket for even better drainage. I will then fill up the bucket the rest of the way with (preferably organic) soil and either perlite or vermiculite to aerate the soil.

    My questions are:

    1. Is my plan a solid one? What would you change or do differently

    2. What is a good soil for cannabis (preferably organic)? One that comes ready out of the bag without having to add anything extra except maybe perlite would be nice. The soil MUST be available stores such as walmart or farm king or something (commercially available), just something i can get my hands on without having to order.

    3. What are good nutes for Vegatative Growth? i was originally going to use miracle gro orchid food (30-10-10 npk ratio) but that seems strong and i dont want to burn my plants, also miracle gro just isnt very good for cannabis. MUST BE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE.

    4. What are good nutes for Flowering stage? Also must be commercially available

    5. Would you recommend using superthrive at least once? What have you heard about superthrive? I heard it does wonders for weed

    6. Do you recommend topping or fimming?

    7. What parts of the plant do i supercrop?

PLEASE ANSWER ANY OR ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS! Im just trying to grow some top shelf quality cannabis for myself and i have sooooooo many questions lol:stoned:

Questions about Nutrients and soil for 1st grow

no rocks in the bottom. It's not good for the roots.

plain potting soil, no added perlite needed. Quality soil is lots better, Fox Farms Ocean Forest.

Espoma is a great organic line of products found at Ace Hardware and many others. Plant-Tone, Flower-Tone or Rose-Tone are good general purpose nutrients.

Screw Superthrive, you don't need that.

I like short plants but I also like a long veg so I start topping at the third node ( sometimes just a couple of inches tall) and often top at least twice. Early topping lets the plant branch out nicely and keeps it relatively short.

Supercropping can be done to any and every branch, If you'd like. I just use that method to bend over the top branches if they start to stretch too much.

You should have a local grow shop...look it up in the hydroponics section. Fox farm has great products
I love the ocean forest soil. Has everything u need to start. Just don't use it for Ur seeds it may burn them.
There is enough nutes in ffof for about a month. Then i would recommend the fox farm line. Really cheap on amazon
If u can't find it local. I wouldn't recommend using nutes that aren't meant for cannabis.

Questions about Nutrients and soil for 1st grow

Thank you very much, thats the info i needed. I did not know that the fox farms soil has nutes to start off, that is exactly what i need and i have decided to use FoxFarm: Grow Big for vegetative state and FoxFarms: Big Bloom for flowering, are they good? or is tiger bloom better than big bloom?

I always add some extra perlite to make sure I have excellent drainage. I also add some extra peat, in order to save some moisture. All will be syphoned by the plant eventually.

Most people swear by Foxfarm. It isd a great soil, but costly. I prefer "MG Organic Choice"; I have grown excellent plants using this soil. I add diatomaceous earth to top of soil to protect against spider miteds and other pests

I start seeds in Superthrive! great product! More females.

    6. Do you recommend topping or fimming? Choice.

    7. What parts of the plant do i supercrop? Duh... Read more!

Questions about Nutrients and soil for 1st grow

I mean; I read the directions for seed starting on the bottle, and follow that regimen. It works. ST is a great potion for stress, and for use at transplant.

I will say; I do not always use ST. I just wanted to give you info from my projects/experiments

Well, its your $. I use EB stone organic potting soil myself. Works beautifully. Go to your local nursery and grab some of their house mix organic soil(prlly around 8-10 bucks) and then get some espoma biotone and tomato tone while your at it. Mix the biotone with your soil, then topdress with tomato tone when flowering starts. Why screw around with the hydro stores and those outrageous prices when you dont have to? And btw, if your're not an ALL organic freak, pick up some Jacks Classic and blossom booster, to supplement your espomas a tad. Hope this helps.
