First time. Help needed.
I dont expect much obviously for a first time especialy since im using bagseed but i just want to throw an attempt for shits and giggles(Best phrase EVER) But i was planing on germinating and then using african violet soil mixed with dirt to start growing outside. I expect nothing but want to give a half assed attempt. I live right next to the rail road tracks but the tracks are in the middle of a valley that is about 20-30 feet up but sloped at a 35-40 degree angle. I can get light and wind on it but i wont be able to get down there too often. any sugestions for care and maintnence? Any outdoor planting teqniques to be shared?

How is your weather where you live? My weather sucks so i have to wait till about 1:30 A.M. to run some jugs of water out to my crops so that the next time the rain hasn't come I can get in, water quickly, and get the hell outta there. Rail road tracks are kinda sketchy cuz the soil sucks, are you growing in the ground or in buckets? Answer those and maybe I can help you a little more. Peace

I live in near philly so its about 65-70 right now. I was thinkin ground but on that slope maybe i could dig a hole put gravel in bottom and then the bucket and make sure it is verticle. I have plenty of trees and bushes on the bank to hide it.

You are using 5 gallon buckets i assume. this should work, not a lot of people walk around there right? why are you putting gravel at the bottom? Don't hide them so much that you give them poor lighting. Do you know the technique of topping?? This will be important, esspecially the FIM Topping method. It will make your plant look more like a bush and draw less attention. And the harvest will be great! Peace

if your using a bucket i wouldnt put gravel to drain. buckets dry up soil sooooo fast. theres a wicking method where you fill about 6 or 8 inches of a bucket with cotton then put water in it, then you place your plant bucket in so when your not there the soil still gets water. search a little on this site to find the exact details cause i cant remember exactly how its done. peace

Ok,I did it. I started in a paper cup on my roof. If I see any growth, it will be on my bank in a second.
