" No more spider mites on cannabis" possibly the best advice ever from cannabis.com

so I have been following these boards for quite some time now and I have been a Med grower for many years. there really is a tremendous wealth of knowledge on this site that many kind people willingly share. with a totally dialed in system the one problem I have never found the solution to has been the spider mite. I was one step from throwing my entire grow out and starting from seed again, thats when I came across this posting from Joegrow. I could not find Quantum at my local grow store (the guy hadn't even heard of it) so I ordered it off their website. I got the product like 2 days later, followed the directions using the high rate twice, applications spaced 3 days apart, and for the first time in years I'm completely spider mite free. I'm going to keep it up at the lower suggested rate every week so I can be spider mite free from now on. this is the kind of information that makes this site so awesome. To all who contribute, keep up the good work. thanks joegrow for spreading the good word.

Be careful you're not consuming a poison. If it kills bugs, don't let it poison you too.

we are all here to share and learn and not any one person knows all, or is even correct in what they do know. I for one. Here is what I do know from the science and literature available. Quantum Apocalypse is a neem based product made from organic OMRI certified ingredients. The following information is quoted from a link that can be found on the quantum apocalypse website entomo419.com. "Historically, neem has also been used in India for both cosmetic and medicinal purposes. For example, oil extracted from the seed is used in soap, wax and lubricants and its twigs have been traditionally used as a toothbrush. Since the 1970s, scientists in Europe and the United States became interested in neem because of its insecticidal properties plus its low toxicity to mammals. Neem does not persist in the environment and is degraded by ultraviolet light and rainfall. Many neem-products tend to have low mammalian toxicity. Because many neem products degrade quickly, they may have less of an effect on non-target beneficial organisms compared to some of the more traditional pesticides. For edible crops, some neem-based products may be used up to the day of harvest."It can be used up till the day of harvest because it is not harmful to humans. Not harmful to humans but devastating to mites in this micro particle formulation. Cheap, safe, and effective works for me. thanks for expressing your concern.

I don't trust anything until I try it, or see it myself. Plus I enjoy testing new stuff that gets hyped up. This one was easy, it either kills spider mites or it doesn't. No waiting 2 to 4 months to see if that extra nute added to the program did anything. I mixed up 16 teaspoons of quantum apocalypse per gallon of water and drenched the plants down with it. 24 hours later I plucked two leaves off of the plant and busted out a stereomaster microscope and started counting (dead spider mites verses living ones). 1849 dead spider mites and 3 living spider mites. Then 48 hours after I initially sprayed I plucked another leaf and started counting again. 937 dead spider mites and 0 living. Combined that is a 99.89% kill rate and it could have possibly been higher. Who knows what would have happened in the following 24 hours to those 3 mites that survived the first 24 hours. It maybe a 100% kill rate for all I know and thatâ??s with only the first of three recommended sprays spaced a couple days apart. I attached some photos for those of you want to check it out. Thanks for the tip Joegrow. Sorry I doubted you, but seeing is believing.

Good pics of the dead mites. Neem to kill many types of insect predators has been around a long time. I first heard about several years ago on OG. I only had spider mites once, they came in on a clone from a friend of mine. Fortunately, I caught 'em early and sprayed the undersides of the leaves with alcohol mixed w/water about 50/50. It kills 'em on contact. Then you spray again with just plain water.
Another thing that's helpful, if you can do it, is take your plant into the shower or ever a sprayer on a hose outside and physically wash 'em off. I had a friend who did that 2-3 times a week until his Predator Mites came in the mail from Canada. They're slightly larger than spider mites and they're reddish orange whereas spider mites are white w/a couple dark spots. The Predator Mites just mount the spider mites but instead of having sex with 'em they stab their hypo fangs into 'em and suck their bodily fluids like a vampire. They can eat about 40 mites a day or 30 mites and 10-15 egg sacs. But you get a couple thousand in the little bottle of what looks like sawdust that you just sprinkle on your plants. Then, when they've killed all the spider mites they start cannibalizing one another. Look it up online if you wanna try them. It's like $30 for 2,000. Anyway, just another option.
If I ever get 'em again - which I won't! - I'll use the Quantum Apocalypse. It looks like it works well... and that's all good.
