Outdoor Grow In Ireland 2013 - First time, need help please

Im planning an outdoor grow this year, for the first time.. Ive read up a lot on how to germinate the seeds and getting them started and all that. I have one big problem though, I am going to america from June to end of august!!

Is it possible to start off a healthy plant indoors, plant it outdoors around early to mid april and look after it until I leave in June? Will it survive by itself for the summer months if it is planted in a good location with good soil or does it need attention? Do I have to start it off indoors?

Also, what seeds would you suggest I use, that will suit my situation and Irelands shit weather. examples for highest potency and highest yield ?

I heard about a guy who planted two seeds in Dublin area, never gave them any attention after first 3 weeks and returned in august to find 6ft tall plants producing 6 ounces each is this likely?

Where or what should I look out for and where not to go wrong?
Any info or suggestions welcome, please comment and give me some help with this as im a bit nervous that I will come home to find out I wasted my time and money..
