was gonna put this in the grow log but i cant add pics so i put it here. hope thats ok
After some long thinking and ugly math i decided it was time to start growing my own again and stop paying cartels. Its been a long time and things have changed
a ton. I had seen phototrons hmm 20?? years ago, didnt think much of it then. Too small, inefficient lighting and absurd cost. A friend told me a little while ago he saw one of the newer led
rigs and the lights were ridiculous. i checked it out, and absurd cost went to astronomical. they are a little bigger 21 x 51 but i'd rather chew barbwire than pay $1100 beans for a crappy plastic housing and light.
I did like the pendants on the side tho. I looked thru craigslist and found one for short money and figured i scrap the housing, make extensions for the pendants and put it in a tent and get more out of it.
the light consists of a 200 watt ufo style with 100 2w leds and 6 pendants with 10 2w leds each. and it is scary bright.
Anyway, i decided since i still needed to square away my main grow area i would play with phototron to see if it would work.
I tried the moss crap and "swamp" method they recommend and it immediately molded over. i cleaned it out and put dirt in instead
and other than a minor lockout issue(i created or leds cause the plants to use more mag??, dunno think it was me tho) it does seem to work well.
the lights are total overkill in the tiny little space you have so its no wonder they like it. i cant wait to see how well it works on a larger scale.
the seeds came from some mexican brick and clearly seem to be very indica beyond that i have no clue. it was so beat up by the time it got here
it was mainly shake. it was still good so i wondered how good it was when it was fresh. they are about 4 weeks old tomorrow
and still a little pale from the lockout but getting their color back quik.

we shall see.
