More Lies, Spin and Fabrication of Studies
by Marijuana Prohibition Supporters

Marijuana became illegal in the United States through the reefer madness lies promulgated by Henry Anslinger in the 1930s as he built back the financially lucrative police prohibition empire that came crashing to an end with the repeal of alcohol prohibition in 1932.

Paul Chabot and the Coalition for a Drug Free California are resurrecting the same policies of Henry Anslinger by promoting lies and misinformation about marijuana in order to secure government funding for their organization. None is more glaring than their recent press release headlined â??New Monitoring the Future Survey IndicatesMarijuana Use Is Increasing Among Teens.â?

This totally misstates the press release issued by University of Michigan who conducts the annual Monitoring the Future Survey. The headline in their press release announcing the results of the survey was â??The Rise in Teen Marijuana Use Stalls, Synthetic Marijuana Use Levels, and Use of â??Bath Saltsâ? is Very Low.â?

The press release issued by the University of Michigan noted that â??After four straight years of increasing use among teens, annual marijuana use showed no further increase in any of the three grades surveyed in 2012. The 2012 annual prevalence rates (i.e., percent using in the prior 12 months) were 11%, 28%, and 36% for 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, respectively. (Among the 8th graders there was a modest decline across the past two yearsâ??from 13.7% in 2010 to 11.4% in 2012â??that reached statistical significance.)â?
Rather than recognize that polling organizations across the spectrum have reported a majority of Americans believe marijuana prohibition is a failed policy and should be replaced with licensing requirements and regulations similar to alcohol, Paul Chabot continues to try to justify the expenditure of $20 billion a year of taxpayer money to law enforcement agencies and organizations like his own by cherry picking statistics that support his position and ignoring or even lying about those that do not.

Despite Chabotâ??s and other government funded anti-drug organizations attempt to associate the rising number of state regulated medical marijuana programs and legalization efforts with a rise in use and a drop in teen views of associated risk, the 2012 Monitoring the Future Survey shows that is just not the case. No amount of spin can alter the reportâ??s statistics that show it is not prohibition that will discourage teen use but education and government regulation that is the most effective means to discourage teen use of marijuana or any other substance.

A press release issued December 20 by the NORML Womenâ??s Alliance noted:
â??It is important to note, however, that marijuana use rates and availability nationwide remain at relatively high levels, while alcohol use rates remain historically low. This is most likely due to the fact that the former is illegal and thereby not subject to government controls, while the latter substance is legally restricted to adults only. The same goes for
tobacco. We did not have to outlaw cigarettes to reduce the use among minors. A policy of education and regulation (not prohibition) has created an environment in which cigarette usage has fallen to an all-time low.

Taking away control of marijuana from law enforcement and turning it over to government regulators and health care professionals will mean the loss of billions of taxpayer dollars for police, lawyers, prison guards and organizations like the Coalition for a Drug Free California. This coalition of police, public agencies and private organizations will continue to distort, misrepresent, falsify, mislead and lie to the public to protect their taxpayer funded marijuana prohibition full employment programs.

I messed up the last email and so although some of you might have seen the following info, I think itâ??s important enough to reprint in case you didnâ??t see it. If you did read it, I hope you agree itâ??s important enough to read again.

I am seeking election to be a delegate at the California State Democratic Convention this year
. Although most people in the party support ending marijuana prohibition, we need to have people on the convention floor pushing for inclusion of that position into the California Democratic Party platform.

The resolution passed on December 10 by the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee would not have happened if we were not part of the Central Committee. There will be no mention of ending marijuana prohibition or protecting the rights of medical marijuana patients if there are no advocates at the state Democratic Convention pushing for it. I am one of those people who will do that, but in order for me to do that, I need to be elected as a delegate.

You can do that if you are a registered Democrat in the 42nd State Assembly District. The 42nd Assembly District covers a large area from San Jacinto and parts of Hemet to Calimesa and all the way east to LaQunita as well as up through Morongo Valley to 29 Palms. For a ma
p CLICK HERE.

Voting will take place on Saturday, January 12 from 10:30 a.m. â?? 11:30 a.m. at 75084 Gerald Ford Drive, Palm Desert, CA 92211. Yes, thatâ??s right. You have to get out to Palm Desert to vote for me. Itâ??s kind of a drive if you live in San Jacinto or Yucca Valley, but as a reward for making the drive and coming out to vote for me, I am going to have an after voting party at my house in White Water (thatâ??s near the 23 story Morongo Casino in Cabazon if you donâ??t know where White Water is). It will be fun and give us all a chance to kick back, relax and chat.

If you need more info on this, please call me at 760-799-2055 or send me an email. This is how we achieve the political clout to protect medical marijuana patients and bring an end to marijuana prohibition, so I hope you understand the importance of making the time to come out and vote for me.

In keeping with New Yearâ??s Eve, on Monday, December 31, the 6 p.m. broadcast and simulcast of our radio show Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense will have as its featured guest Dale Gerringer, director of CalNORML and marijuana bon vivant. Dale will be taking a look back at the most important marijuana moments of 2012 and put on his prognosticators hat and take a look at what might just be happen in 2013.
Our second guest is Joe Grumbine, a collective operator so heinous that our state and local governments have spent over $1,000,000.00 SO FAR arresting, prosecuting and imprisoning him. Joe is facing a second trial after the first one was declared a judicial embarrassment by another judge. Out on bail between trials, he wound up back in jail after a small amount of marijuana was found in his car during a traffic stop. Finally released on bail, Joe will be on the show regaling us with his trials and tribulations over the last month and what lays ahead for him as the nearly bankrupt state of California continues to shovel taxpayer money into the pit of vengeance dug by the cops who just donâ??t like him one bit.
Join Dale and Joe along with the usual cast of suspects Uncle Ronnie, Kali Smith and myself for the Monday, December 31 New Yearâ??s Eve broadcast at 6 p.m. of Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense on IE Talk Radio Station KCAA1050 AM and simulcast www.kcaaradio.com. Past shows are archived as podcasts at kcaaradio.com.

Got a suggestion about a very special way to celebrate the arrival of 2013. Instead of the alcoholic champagne toast at midnight â?? light up some most excellent potent cannabis and greet the New Year warm and toasted instead of passed out and cold.

I was in Las Vegas last week and I was astounded at all the ads in magazines and on billboards promoting an alcohol fueled New Yearâ??s Eve - every party boasted open bars with all the booze you can swallow. What kind of message does this send to children?

Seriously - consider making this New Year an alcohol free and cannabis infused New Yearâ??s Eve. What could be better than some really potent weed consumed with friends, music blaring, bodies swaying and joints, pipes, bongs and those new-fangled oil pens held high as the clock strikes midnight and it becomes 2013!

It will be a New Yearâ??s Eve you will actually remember and remember very fondly especially when you wake up New Yearâ??s morning feeling bright eye and bushy tailed ready to greet the New Year with good health and a positive outlook.
