Riverside Central Democratic Committee Passes First Resolution in Support of Marijuana to President Obama
[/align] [align=left] On Monday, Dec. 10 the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling on President Obama to respect the will of the voters of Colorado and Washington in legalizing marijuana, end federal interference in states that have passed medical marijuana laws and to appoint a commission to look into marijuana law reform. The resolution is printed at the end of this press release.

The resolution was drafted and introduced by the Brownie Mary Democratic Club of Riverside County because of a concern by club members that the Obama Administration did not look favorably on Colorado and Washingtonâ??s passage of initiatives legalizing the use and sale of marijuana. According to a December 6 article in the New York Times, none of the options being considered by the Obama Administration allow for the states to implement their new laws without some kind of drastic federal intervention.

Members of the BMDC will be going to the offices of Senator Barbara Boxer in downtown Riverside on Thursday, December 13 at 11 a.m. to request that she facilitate delivering a copy of the resolution passed by the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee to the Presidentâ??s office. Barbara Boxer is our Senator and we hope that she will help us get a copy of the resolution into the hands of someone in the White House who will actually read it and give it some serious consideration.

In the meantime, they will be celebrating their 3rd Anniversary this Saturday, December 15 by inviting the general public to come at 12 noon and learn about medical marijuana and take a tour of their facility including their Farmersâ?? Market.

There will be a BBQ going on for most of the day with free hot off the grill hamburgers and hot dogs and all the â??fixins.â?� There is no charge for the seminar or the tour and you do not have to be a patient to attend. If you have friends or family members that donâ??t know much about medicinal marijuana and are wondering what all the fuss is about, this will be a unique opportunity to educate them.

When there is a party, given by a collective....it is not an event to miss or, forget!!!
