    Planning on relocating to Colorado

Hi all, this is my first post here, sorry if I do something wrong.

Well I'm planning on moving from Wisconsin very soon out to Colorado, and wanted to see if I can get somebody to help me through the process I'm going to have to go through to get my red card. I am not even sure if my medical condition will be approved for use but I am hoping it does because I refuse to take pills and chemicals, I won't even take a Tylenol for a headache, that is how much I am against them. I have been combating anxiety and eating problems with marijuana for some time now, of course supporting the black market the whole time because I live in WI (I'm a criminal!). I don't really have any official diagnosis for anything because I refuse to visit doctors, simply because they don't have anything for me. NO PILLS FOR ME THANKS! BUT, I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder that followed a near-fatal car accident. I also used to take Accutane as a child, which I think has caused me to develop the stomach problems I face daily.

Anyways, I am worried a bit. Worried because I don't want to move there, go visit a doctor (for the first time in years! I never go because doctors around here have nothing for me!) and have the doctor tell me I'm unable to get a red card for whatever reason. The main reasons I worry is because I am young (almost 22) (I am not sure how people perceive young people in Colorado but around here, we are everything that is wrong with society). Either that, or I fear the doctor will just simply tell me my condition isn't "good enough" for the recommendation. I will have just moved across the country, losing my current hookup in the process due to distance, and being in a position where I literally have nobody to get it from, and certainly not enough funds to move back to my home state. I'll be weed-less, in a town where I don't know ANYBODY. I haven't gone more than a week without smoking in god knows how long, I don't know what would happen if I was stuck there with nothing! Probably just have an anxiety attack and die somewhere.

So, my question is, how easily do doctors give out the recommendations? Is there a sure-fire way to get it? Am I worrying too much? I am by no means saying I'm worthy or not worthy of getting a card with my health, I suppose in the end, a doctor will have to be the one to judge that, but maybe somebody can share their insight with me.

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

hello. life without cannabis is not lethal. it sucks, but you can live without it. you are stressing too much, and it may be just the anxiety of moving. when i was in my early 20's, moving really excited me. i may have a more adventurous gene. Colorado is not that far from you. even if you had to beg for a tank of gas, you could get back home. some areas of Colorado are more conservative than others. perhaps you should request a more specific destination within Colorado. Colorado is a generally more beautiful landscape than Wisconsin, so you may stay there whether you get your Red card, or not. staying away from gateway drugs alike Tylenol is probably what is keeping you sane. good luck with the process. perhaps only stating to a physician not being legal has been making you paranoid enough to move will be enough for a prescription. I am not familiar with Colorado doctors.

Thanks for the response rollzone, I probably am stressing too much about it. I've been researching quite a bit lately and I think most of my worries are gone. One thing I forgot to mention though is I would be literally putting all of my belongings in a U-Box from U-Haul, having them deliver it to CO, and I would take a Greyhound there. It would be VERY difficult for me to get back home if something were to happen (U-Box costs $1000+ alone).

It's not so much that I want to smoke recreationally (assuming that is what you are hinting towards by posting the link to Amendment 64 details), I would prefer medicinal. Even though I'm sure the quality would be the same, that's just not the purpose of me smoking and it just seems a little bit sketchy to have a store similar to a liquor shop selling me my medicine. If I have to resort to being a recreational user due to a doctor not giving me my recommendation, then I will have to. I'm just wondering if I have a good chance of getting the medical card with my condition.

you won't get your red card for anxiety. most get their cards for chronic pain.

Here you can read all about the Colorado MMJ program, including the list of qualifying conditions.

but yea, I see no reason for a red card after Hickenlooper signs and 64 becomes law.

You get to run around with an ounce, grow 6 at home, and posess all of the proceeds of those six plants, basically making the limit unlimited.

I've read all of the qualifying conditions, I guess my issue is the fact that I NEVER go to the doctor, therefore, I don't have any type of diagnosis of anything. I see severe nausea is one, could that tie in with me previously taking Accutane and resulting in stomach problems? I was a long time ago diagnosed with beginning stages of ulcers, but it was never looked into much because it was around that time I quit trusting the medical industry. Every morning I wake up nauseous and I have a difficult time eating. Not the the point where I cannot maintain myself, but I do consider every day a struggle.

Please read my most previous post. I don't plan to grow myself, for fear of messing up and having crappy weed, and I also don't want to go to a store like a liquor store to buy something in which I call medicine.

better late than never here I guess...

you can still get a rec. It's best to have chronic pain: arthritis, spine issues, etc but a good doc should be able to help you with the nausea complaint. call them ahead and discuss. call a local dispensary for a recommendation for a doctor to use. also see what they are willing to give you for signing them up as your caregiver (since you don't want to grow). call around.

Turns out it was easier than I had thought. :P I've been living in CO now for about 3 weeks, and I am loving it!

I got my recommendation for severe pain, partly to do with my stomach problems. Anyways, I made Medical MJ Supply in Wheat Ridge my primary center because they're close by and their flower is great. They have 2 locations and I get monthly deals at both places.
