medical insurance and alternative medicine
I actually joined this forum to see if any of you are interested in alternative medicine and want to have alternative therapies be covered under insurance plans.
I do not have health insurance, and am not interested in the kinds of medical treatment it covers. I've only been to the doctor for broken bones and acute infectious disease like strep throat to this point in life, and I know that I won't be asking for chemo and radiation or a new heart.
What I DO want (since I'll be required by law to buy medical insurance in 2014) is to have options that meet my needs. I want to be able to go to a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, an ayurvedic practitioner, and a naturopath. I want the money I pay out for medical care to be for services I WANT, like physical therapy, tai chi and yoga classes, meditation practice, nutritional counseling. If marijuana makes me feel better I, frankly, want to grow my own.
I fear being part of the allopathic medical system of the United States. It is a system that has been rigged for maximum profits at the expense of the people it is meant to serve. You'd think, hearing the national conversation about "health care", that the medical system is set up to keep people healthy. WRONG. Once a person's health fails, however, they will prolong your suffering--at great expense if you're "covered" or make your life miserable if you're not. My fear comes from the sense that people lose their God-given right to make their own health/life/death choices when they become a medical "patient". Whether or not a person has medical insurance coverage, he or she will still die--in spite of all the hype--sooner or later. Sometimes sooner is really preferable; I've seen it.
So I want to find like-minded folks, start a "movement", be a "control group" of persons who opt out of medicine as it is being offered in favor of medicine as we WANT it.Ukelady Reviewed by Ukelady on . medical insurance and alternative medicine I actually joined this forum to see if any of you are interested in alternative medicine and want to have alternative therapies be covered under insurance plans. Ok I understand what about choices and such each their own etc, are you saying the way it is now that in 2014their IS going to be a mandatory insurance for all American citizens? If I understand you correct, wow we are all going to need some sort of Medical help, whether it a broken bone, common infection/viruses etc Dental, Vision, on and on and if "is" mandatory like this then it is indeed driven by the dollar and this is gross to know that our Health care is driven supposly for the better or in that direction (supposly) I'm obviously ignorant on the Medical Law, but I know wrong from right and I feel the same, it is not right to profitize on a persons life/or on the backs of an ill person playing with percentages for profit..... Their taking a percent and multiplying and we the people are the numbers... ICK thanks for the EYE OPNER look forward to more reading.

That is Obamacare...
regardless of whether or not you have an income, you will have to buy the insurance
there was a time, I selected to not have medical insurance, after my cobra was expire
What I'd like to know is, how this program is going to be implemented. Forcing people to buy insurance. If you don't, go to jail and get the best care our collective society can give a criminal...Need a transplant, go to jail in CA, the state will put you at the top of the transplant list.
There are good aspects of the Obamacare, I forgot what it was though. I think it had more to do with the small employer, being able to take care of their employees, with healthcare. I see interviews on TV, of these employers saying they'll have to close their doors, they cannot afford it.
I just want to know if it will continue to pay for viagra? Who said, "our dumb government" LOL
The biggest problem is, we DO not have enough M.D.'s for this care. We will be getting 3rd world country care, we are close to it already. The educational system will streamline teaching and skipping, things. We'll have M.D.'s with less skill, be stuck seeing a nurse instead of a M.D. Or, as usual, they will suddenly make a new 'career' for seeing us. A trade school, doggie houser..where are you, we need to clone YA!!! LOL, somehow, I think even dougie houser could do a better job.
Does anyone know if the "donute hole" will exist, in the new program?
Will the Gov't start Medical Schools for rubber stamping, "PASSED" Oh, just thought of this, did you realize a "D" is a passing grade in Medical school. And IF they have a B.S., it could be in basket weaving? lol
I have watched and been involved in medical care since 1972, from working in a group of M.D.'s office--to what we have now. I am very intolerant of care, that is less than it should be.
I just learned this, a few days ago. The National Boards for Registered Nursing, 40 years ago, was a two day long test, for a total of 14 hours of testing, and timed. It was divided into med/surg psych, etc. NOW, they take some sort of electronic test, it is possible to be finished, in one hour! The first 80 questions, if they get those right, they cannot even continue the test, the machine "passes" them and shuts down! One nurse told me, "It's easy, most of the questions are in the books!" We use to have to study, without cribs. Well heck, they might as well just hand people smart phones and say, take care of yourself.
Modern technology! I hope I age out of this system before I see much more degradation of the medical care to Americans.
Which is why I have changed from pro MMJ only use to Pro Legalization.
Ukelady; I wish we could chose different plans, one that is more holistic and no drugs..just herbs
and our insurance company, should pay for it..
It seems to me, once the medical community realizes that our bodies have endocannabinoid systems that requires cannabinoids, just like our electrolytes, etc. We will be complete and a healthier nation. Cannabis needs taught in all schools, every biology class, regardless of age of students. It is a NATURAL PART OF OUR BODIES.
If you want to start an activist group; Equal Rights for All, Pro-choice health plans? Sounds kinda cool, really. I am of the conviction, that we need to start by talking to each one of our elected officials.
I've had 2 ask me, "You want your insurance company to pay for it!" Well, my answer is yes, but I lie (I learned that, from the politicians) and say no. Imagine how much money would be saved and how much lower, bud would cost, if it were legalized. All the money going into the legal defense, etc will no longer be a part of the price of bud!
Maybe, I could buy my first $25. bag! At least, I've finally learned how to ask, "hey, where can I buy some weed!" LOL :stoned: pr
