The Very Ugly Plant That Still Grew

    Hi all,

This was supposed to be a DNA OG Kush.. the 2 feminized beans I grew from original packaging both ended up looking like some freak of nature with curly twisted leaves. The other was the worst and I ended up killing it off about 2 weeks into flower as it didn't seem to make sense wasting the resources to grow it out. What I'm really surprised of is the amount of bud even with the shitty leaves.. Anyone ever seen curl like this? This was like that out of the gate even as a new seedling.

This is not to beat on the breeder.. Just pointing out that sometimes you'll get a seed that's not as advertised. Please don't anyone go down that rathole, the one where you start thinking a seed bank or breeder is intentionally trying to sell you junk. That's not repeatable business model and I doubt seriously very many at all do it.

Anyway, check out the ugly one at 49 days into flower. The buds while big are light on trichomes.. I'm currently estimating 65-70 days for this to finish.

    Peace,

    Farmer Rich

Yea.. every seed has to be brown out to see what it'll do. There are no guarantees even with stable strains. Just like bagseed can turn out some unexpected ganja goodness... seedbank beans might not meet expectations 100% of the time. Those nugs look rather dank from what I can see

Old post to reply to, but.. genetics in this case.. humidity actually runs a little low in my room.. typically 40%. Farmer Rich

That is so true! In the case of these, both beans had similar results and as a result I didn't waste anymore time with them.

    yut, old thread.. whatever.
It's not fair to comment on any seeds from just growing out a couple. The proof is in the majority. If you have a pack of ten and can grow them out nice you may not see all perfect specimens, right? Also, it depends on how good we prepare the medium and grow area. If we pop two or three seeds we might get lucky or maybe not. But a whole pack should let us know if things are good or not, whether iths' the seeds themselves or our grow technique.

ps, my own seeds seem to be at least as stable as the seedhouse products, in general.

Agree. I've heard it takes a minimum of 1000 - 3000 plants to really get an idea of the full scope of the genetics. If you want to see something cool, there's a video on the Green House seeds site that shows a plantation with literally 300,000 of their plants. It's f'n amazing and only about 5-6 minutes.. worth looking at for just the awe!

BTW - I am in that 2-3 seed category, and go for luck. Only 1 room these days so I pretty much do breeder seeds for fun. In spite of the low numbers, I know whose seeds I trust.. Once I get a bad one, try something else.

Kinda crappy.. It's the last jar I have while waiting for the current crop to finish up.
