On Sunday, November 18, sixty-two members of our collective came on down to receive free medical marijuana from collective member Larry Neiderhiser. Larry??s unique outdoor growing system had produced more marijuana then he could use in a decade and since it cost him practically nothing to produce, he chose to give it all away to members of the collective.

It was fun and festive afternoon during the free distribution and everyone seemed very pleased with both the quality and quantity they received. We would like to thank Larry for his generosity and for choosing the IEP Heath & Wellness Center as his collective. If any of our members have excess marijuana and would like to emulate Larry??s humanity and compassion and provide it free to our members, send an email to [email protected] or call the collective at 951-782-8400 and leave a message to be called.

in
San Bernardino San Bernardino has always been hell on wheels for medical marijuana patients. This disregard for state law has always been maliciously enforced by San Bernardino County law enforcement. Current SB County Sheriff Rod Hoops has been a major disappointment for mmj patients as when he originally came into office two years ago, we thought he was going to work with us to implement state law.
We couldn??t have been more wrong as his office has been relentless in going after mmj collectives and individual patients growing their own medicine. His office was one of the major instigators of the outdoor growing ban so I am glad to report that Sheriff Hoops has announced that he will be leaving his office soon to take employment elsewhere.

Sheriff Hoops is maneuvering to appoint his own successor, but there is a groundswell building in support of the man who ran against him and came in second ?? Paul Schraeder.

Paul Schrader is an experienced law enforcement professional with 29 years of service to city, county and Federal law enforcement agencies. He currently works as a Deputy Sheriff at the Los Angeles County Sheriff??s Department.

Deputy Sheriff Schrader has spoken at our meeting in Victorville and has demonstrated his understanding of California state mmj law and his intention to enforce it and not try to undermine it as has been the modus operandi of current SB Co. law enforcement.

There is a coordinated movement to get the SB Co. Board of Supervisors to appoint Deputy Sheriff Schrader as the new SB County Sheriff. Unlike whoever Sheriff Hoops anoints as his heir apparent, Deputy Sheriff Schrader actually has received the vote of over 44,000 citizens of San Bernardino County. That he should be the next Sheriff only makes common sense and good government.

There are two things you can do to help convince the SB Co. Board of Supervisors to appoint Deputy Sheriff Schrader to the position of Sheriff.

1. If you live in San Bernardino County, then sign the on-line petition right now by CLICKING HERE. If you don??t live in San Bernardino County, but know some folks who do, then email, phone or invade their home and get them to sign the petition. About 200 more signatures are needed to get the petition before the Board to appoint Deputy Schafer as Sheriff. To sign the petition, click here.

2. Wherever you live, come show your support for Deputy Sheriff Schrader on Tuesday, November 27th at 10 am by coming to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting and speak out for Paul Schrader to either be considered for the appointed position of County Sheriff or at least request the Board to consider holding a special election. The Board of Supervisors meeting is held at the San Bernardino County Government Building at 385 N. Arrowhead Avenue in downtown San Bernardino, CA 92415

Deputy Schrader supports us and we need to support him ?? that??s what it is all about. If we don??t get out there and support him, it will send a message to other elected officials that supporting us will be of no benefit. There are lots of us out there ?? let??s throw our weight around a bit.

NEWS & EVENTS
The medical marijuana and marijuana law reform movement is taking hold everywhere and the Inland Empire is a hotbed of activity. Here??s some exciting and educational events coming up that you shouldn??t miss.
Friday, November 30
LaSierra University - The Battle Over Medical Marijuana
Ruthie Heavrin, a student at LaSierra University, a 7th Day Adventist College in Riverside, will be making a presentation entitled The Battle Over Medical Marijuana. She has spent a great deal of time researching the issue, has attended a number of MAPP meetings and interviewed many of the patient members of the IEP Health and Wellness Center.

An interesting twist to her presentation will be an examination of what Ruthie describes as the role ??morals and Christianity play in the relationship with medical marijuana.? William Sump, General Manager of the IEP Health and Wellness Center, will join Ruthie in her presentation and discuss how medical marijuana collectives provide patients with access to medicinal marijuana and the virtual avalanche of legal challenges facing them.

Ruthie??s presentation is one of four presentations from a year-long class on Changing Communities. The presentations will begin at 1:00 P.M. in the Visual Arts Center on the La Sierra University Campus, 4500 Riverwalk Parkway, Riverside, CA 92515. Security at the front entrance will provide direction to the Visual Arts Center. Everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

WORLD AIDS DAY seminars on Medical Marijuana and AIDS.
World AIDS Day was established by the World Health Organization in 1988 to unite people in the fight against HIV, educate people on how to protect against HIV infection and provide information on the newest therapies and research.

One of the most successful, but least understood AIDS treatment therapies is the use of medicinal marijuana. It is estimated that one out of every three AIDS patients currently uses marijuana to treat the many life-threatening and life-debilitating symptoms associated with this disease. Unfortunately most AIDS patients live in a society that still does not understand the immense benefits of using marijuana with many finding that their use of marijuana can cause friction with family members, doctors and social workers.

To shed light on this issue, on World AIDS Day this Saturday, Dec. 1, the Marijuana Anti-Prohibition Project is sponsoring two programs on AIDS and MARIJUANA featuring Tom Place. Mr. Place is an AIDS patient whose incredible story typifies why so many AIDS patients credit marijuana not just with helping mitigate the symptoms of this debilitating disease but with keeping them alive and healthy.

Tom has founded the AIDS Alternative Health Association (AAHA), a medical marijuana/AIDS patient support group which holds several meetings each month in various locations throughout the Inland Empire. He has also developed a cannabis-based tincture that many AIDS patients utilize to help maintain their health and fight the ravages of AIDS.

Both anecdotal and peer-reviewed research has shown incredible benefits for AIDS patients for everything from neuropathy to appetite stimulation. Due to fear of funds getting cut by the federal government, AIDS organizations generally will not provide such information to their clients. It is the purpose of this special forum on Dec. 1 to provide this life-saving and life-affirming information.

There will be two presentations of the AIDS and Marijuana Seminar on Saturday, December 1. The first seminar on Saturday, December 1 begins at 11:30 a.m. and is held at Crystal Fantasy, 268 N. Palm Canyon, in downtown Palm Springs 92262.

This second seminar on Saturday, December 1 begins at 2 p.m. and is held at the new Jtopia Artist Residential Colony located at 61850 Chollita in Joshua Tree 92252. The Jtopia Artist Residential Colony is a cannabis friendly community.

These are the regular monthly MAPP meetings in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree and they are free and open to the public. Please feel free to bring friends, neighbors, family members or whoever you feel will benefit from exposure to this information and contact with medical marijuana patients and law reform advocates.

??Beyond THC: Cannabidiol (CBD) and the Future of Medical Marijuana?
Martin Lee is the author of Smoke Signals: A Social History of Marijuana ?? Medical, Recreational and Scientific and is director of Project CBD, a non-profit educational service dedicated to promoting and publicizing research into the medical utility of cannabidiol (CBD) and other components of the Cannabis plant.

Mr. Lee will present a power-point presentation which explores scientific studies and clinical developments that document the extraordinary healing properties of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive component of marijuana. CBD has potent anti-tumoral, anti-psychotic, anti-convulsive, antioxidant and neuroprotective effects.

Lee will discuss various molecular mechanisms through which CBD exerts a therapeutic impact. He will review recent findings that led to the discovery of the endogenous cannabinoid system, a hitherto unknown signaling system in the human brain and body that regulates a broad range physiological processes, including glucose metabolism, blood pressure, bone density, intestinal fortitude, pain perception and the formation of new stem cells (neurogenesis) in adult mammals.

Within the scientific community, the discovery of the ??endocannanbinoid system? is increasingly recognized as a seminal advancement in our understanding of human biology. CBD research is at the cutting edge of a revolution in medical science. As director of Project CBD, Lee will discuss efforts to reintroduce CBD-rich products into the grassroots supply in states where medical marijuana is legal.

The presentation on CBD??s will be made on Friday, December 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Presto Quality Care (formerly THCF Medical Clinic) at 647 Main St., Riverside CA 92501. You can prepare yourself for this most excellent seminar, by reading Mr. Lee??s most excellent article in the Daily Beast by CLICKING HERE
NOW GET INVOLVED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
