I am not sure why you felt the need to comment on these things but at least you did touch on the lighting that this thread is talking about. You may be right about the plants and I have seen that they can indeed endure a 24/0 light cycle, and I have also seen that they can thrive when given a dark period.

So then in your attempts to sound erudite you mention that flowering can set in if darkness exceeds 11 hours per day and for anyone not paying attention you state that this flowering can take up to 6 weeks. This is the point that my pontification alarm went off.

Dr... first of all, most strains do go longer than 6 weeks... some of mine recently have gone as long as 9 or 10. This however is not why I stress as I write these words. The entire point of this thread was that we were attempting to trick the plants... to be able to give them a longer darkness period and save the money for lighting, WITHOUT PUTTING THEM INTO FLOWERING MODE. Please understand that we are not suggesting here that this is the proper way to grow cannabis... it is a trick... and experiment. Your comments did very little to further the dialog in this thread and thus has resulted in me being a bit testy in my response to you. I think it was the way you started the note that set me off... "Don't fall for that crap"... hmmm... was it my crap that was offending you sir?
first off messing with lighting schedules 99 percent of the time will cause stress , hermies, as well as poor growth rates, I think why people are thinking of going this route is to save a dime on there electricity bill and possibly heat issues
Where on earth does this light schedule actually happen ???
you mention tricking the plants Ha i would really love you to explain how to trick a plant ?????
To Get best possible growth / yield you need a dialed in room running proper hrs for photosynthesis that is the building block of life period and yes marijuana is a dark period plant meaning darkness triggers hormones to flower some plant types use temperature to change to flower Wheat ETC

Bottom line to get best possible yield one must think and do like mother nature as fall approaches daylight lessons so in reality as you get into late stages of flower it is a good idea to to lower light periods from 12 /12 to 11 / 13 / 10 / 14 also reducing temps
