12/1 Veg lighting ...anyone tried this?
I came across this blog today. How To Use The 12/1 Lighting Method For Efficient Marijuana Cultivation | The Weed Blog I was wondering if any of our growers have tried this. It sounds too good to be true. So any of you "experts" using this method or at least tried?

Hmmmm I guess of the 400 plus people who viewed this no one has tried it. I guess I'll hold off for a while trying it as well

This does have me intrigued and I see nothing wrong with the logic of using it in my veg tent. I have of course never tried it, but will soon. I have ordered a new X-10 computer based light timing system, and will soon be able to have much more control than one single simple on and off time.

My X10 system arrived yesterday. I now have an insane ability to manage my lights, fans, pumps... everything, via a home computer management system. This is totally awesome! Just as an example of how versatile this system could be, it would be a simple matter to have the computer exactly simulate the sun outside, automatically varying the length of days with the season... Not that we would ever do that in our tents, but just saying.
For now, my living room lamp now knows to come on 15 minutes before sunset automatically. Way cool.
Anyway, today has been the first day of 13/5.5-1-5.5 in my veg tent. We shall know in a week or so how the plants are responding to it as I have several clones, one late veg bush and a batch of real edible strawberries in there. It is obvious that a lot less power is being used now compared to the 18/6 that this tent was on, and if this works, it will wonderful.

OK... it has been enough time to make a decision regarding this 12-5.5-1-5.5 method. I have been using it for enough time to see if the plants would go into flowering mode from this odd lighting pattern, but I see no signs that this is the case. Quite the opposite actually, I am seeing aggressive vegetative growth in the tent now. Everything in the tent seems to be going nuts with growth and I see no problem with this method at all. I will let you all know if this changes in the future, but so far... this is a success and I am saving 5 hours of electricity every day. Nice.
