Send President Obama the Message to End the War on Marijuana
With the support of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, Jeffrey Dyerwood, author of the astounding book about drug prohibition, World War-D, has created a petition to send to President Obama. Here is what he writes:
The historic and decisive victories for marijuana legalization in Colorado and Washington State are game changers, but the war is far from over. With growing clamor for drug policy reform from our Latin American allies, the Obama administration is caught in a quandary, but between fighting a long-lost rear-guard battle or facing the challenge of a paradigm shift, the contrast couldn't be starker and the common sense choice should be obvious. Will Obama live up to the occasion?
Let's give Obama a strong hint and send him the strongest possible signal that the drug policy debate has just turned a major corner!

At 9 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2007, Inland Empire talk radio station KCAA 1050 AM threw caution to the wind by courageously airing a show about an illegal schedule 1 drug. On Monday, November 19 at 6 p.m. Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense will be CELEBRATING 5 YEARS as the first and still the only radio show about marijuana to ever be regularly broadcast over the air anywhere in the world by a full power radio station.

With Louis Armstrong, a life-long marijuana smoker, singing What A Wonderful World in the background, I have opened every show over the last five years intoning ??Welcome to Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense, the show that tells the truth about marijuana, exposes the politics behind its prohibition, presents the facts about its medical and health benefits and clears up all the legal mumbo-jumbo that makes it so difficult, so dangerous and nearly impossible for you to avail yourself of this ancient medicinal herb.?
The show??s premise is that the appropriate use of cannabis is better than no cannabis use at all. Every week the research is presented to prove it with a presentation that is designed to be understandable and entertaining.
That these efforts have been successful is testified to by being selected for three years in a row as the Best Talk Radio Show Host in the Inland Empire by the readers of the IE Weekly in their annual Best of the IE Readers Poll.
The show is also simulcast at KCAA Radio, 1050 AM, NBC News, Inland Empire, California reaching listeners from all over the world. The show certainly has a nice sized listening audience in the Inland Empire but based on calls and email messages received, it is dwarfed by the number of listeners who hear the show on the worldwide web.
Each week the show features knowledgeable guests on medical, legal and recreational marijuana issues. The first show brought together Anna Boyce and Dennis Peron, the chief proponents of Proposition 215; California??s first in the nation law legalizing the use of marijuana when recommended by a physician.

Anna Boyce, who as a retired R.N., became the public voice of medical marijuana and was seen in many TV commercials advocating for the passage of Proposition 215. Dennis Peron opened the first medical marijuana dispensary in the nation and is considered by many to be the father of today??s medical marijuana movement.
For the fifth anniversary show, Dennis Peron and Anna Boyce will reunite and provide their pioneering insights on what happened then and what has happened over the last sixteen years to the medical marijuana movement.
With Anna Boyce living in Orange County and Dennis Peron living in the Bay area, it is rare occasion when the two of them are together. They are both looking forward to their reunion on the 5th Anniversary show and will be reminiscing about the trials and tribulations of the Prop. 215 campaign and reflecting on how what they started in 1996 is now shaking up the nation and the world.
Joining with me in the 5th Anniversary show are cohosts Uncle Ronnie and Kali Smith whose expertise in marijuana cultivation and long-time advocacy round out each week??s show with their wit, knowledge and humor.
The show has sponsors ranging from lawyers to collectives to real estate agents. I am very grateful for their confidence in us as a vehicle for advertising their products as the show would not be on the air without their financial patronage.
We will also be giving away some great prizes, so listen in for your chance to win. Please join us for the historic fifth anniversary show this Monday, November 19 beginning at 6 p.m. as it is broadcast to the Inland Empire over the air on KCAA 1050AM and simulcast to the world at KCAA Radio, 1050 AM, NBC News, Inland Empire, California.
