RIchard Eastman is Running for LA City Council

Richard Eastman is running for the Los Angeles City Council. An AIDS patient who claims he owes his life to the use of marijuana, Richard is long time medical marijuana activist. He worked with Dennis Peron in founding the first cannabis buyers club in San Francisco way back in the 1990s and with Scott Imler in founding southern Californiaâ??s first medical marijuana collective, the Los Angeles Cannabis Resource Center.

Richard is certainly colorful and one of the most outspoken advocates for medical marijuana and marijuana law reform. Impassioned, articulate and a political realist, Richard will certainly make an excellent member of the Los Angeles City Council and will be a relentless and courageous fighter for patient rights.

Richard was on our radio show last Monday with his incredible story. If you want to hear the show go to http://kcaaradio.celestrion.net/kcaa-podcasts/sense/20121022.html. The show starts after 3 minutes of commercials and a newscast.

He needs $300 in order to be able to file the papers to run for the office and I made the commitment to raise $100 towards that end.

What happens in Los Angeles will affect the Inland Empire so letâ??s get the Inland Empire to unleash Richard on Los Angeles. Letâ??s see if we can take it all the way â?? I promised $100 but come on, $300 isnâ??t that much money so please help right now. The deadline for filing is Nov. 5 so we need to raise it right now. Please go to
CLICK HERE where you can make a donation to get Richard on the ballot. LA has a major influence on the IE, itâ??s time we turned the table and had a major influence on LA. Getting Richard on the ballot would certainly have a major influence on LA as Richard will be all over his district campaigning.

When you go to the webpage to make your donation, you will see a thermoment showing how close we are to raising the money to get Richard up and running for the LA City Council. Make your donation and get Richard that much closer to being on the ballot.

He will be indefatigable campaigner for the office and will guarantee that the issue of access to medical marijuana will not be buried and ignored. He canâ??t make it happen if he canâ??t run. You can make it happen though your donation, so if you can donate a few dollars or considerably more, please
CLICK HERE to make the donation and see right before your eyes how your donation raises the temperature on the Letâ??s Get Richard on the LA City Council thermometer.

The Election is NEXT WEEK.
VOTE.........VOTE..........VOTE

The BIG election is coming up this Tuesday, Nov. 6. If you havenâ??t voted yet and you want to know which candidates are supportive of marijuana law, there are two websites with information on some of the candidates. Unfortunately, there are very few local candidates listed and no organization in the IE was able to put together a comprehensive voterâ??s guide.

Here are the websites for marijuana friendly candidate voter guides.
http://votemedicalmarijuana.org/ (this guide was put out by Americans for Safe Access)
http://www.drugsense.org/dpfca/ElectionGuideNov2012.html (this guide was put out by the Drug Policy Forum)

Last Sunday five members of the Brownie Mary Democratic Club attended the Region 19 Democratic Directors Meeting in which there were candidates for offices present. I asked questions about their support for marijuana and two candidates made statements personally to me and while speaking publicly to the people at the meeting. They are Democrats running in Republican districts so it is an uphill battle although redistricting has made the districts less Republican then they were.

These two candidates are:
David Secor (D) â?? 50th Congressional District
Michael Williamson (D) â?? 42nd Congressional District

If these candidates are on your ballot, I encourage you to vote for them. Both of their opponents are old-line drug warriors totally opposed to both the medical and recreational use of marijuana.

Coloradoâ??s legalization measure has been slipping in the polls and they have sent the word out for people anywhere in the United States to help insure its passage by volunteering to make phone calls to voters. You can do this from the comfort of your home from anywhere in the U.S.A, so if you have 30 minutes or more to spare making phone calls, then help them pass the first measure to legalize marijuana in the United States,

For more information and to sign up to make phone calls go to:

MAPP was founded in 1999 and is one of the most active public advocacy groups in the Southern California region. This group and the volunteers donate a tremendous amount of time, resource and funds to help educate the public, local politicians and even law enforcement agencies that the people who use medical marijuana need a viable, safe and affordable access. There are so many miss-perceptions to the use, results and concerns over the use of medical marijuana. Many of these false hoods have been prompted by government reports with some as old as the 1940's. MAPP is dedicated to help educate and inform the pubic so they can Educate to Activatefor the cause.
