Powdery mildew?
I dont understand why your goi g on about fungus gnat? He has mildew. Just because you have mildew,does not mean you have fungus gnat or vice versa. If he has mildew then it is almost certainly due to humidity, not fungus gnat. Mildew: lower the humidity. Fungus gnat: put a woman's stocking over your pots, 100% guaranteed to stop anything from getting to your soil.
