What bothers me about cloning is your on a time limit and one mistake and your SOL. Even with a mother your still at risk of her dying. I bought the 10 regular seeds with plans of breeding to provide an abundant supply of seeds that can be stored until I'm ready to use them. I might try cloning later on, but I want to be sure I have a back-up plan... i.e. my own personal seedbank Call it the boyscout in me... but I always like to be prepared, cause if Romney gets in were all screwed!

I do have ta say... That your not SOL! Cause the care you give ya plants that you do have... You should give to ya Mama's! If not better! A Mama will provide you with an abundant amount of plants/cuttings... It's called Marijuana Multiplication.. It's really effortless! That way you save ya beans... You ain't gotta start all of them at once.. The odds of you getting a male outta 5 beans are about 3 of 5 male... Just an educated guess.. You get the jest of it I'm sure! I've kept a Mama for better than 5 years... I'll flower her after about 2 years and reveg take cuttings and reveg again.. The Mama will produce more bud than one can imagine! Years worth... From one seed? Yup!

Looking good. Wow all this info is making my head spin. So whens the correct time to clone? And how do I know im not cloning a male? Mine haven't started flowering yet but in 2 weeks I will

I wasnt talking about not taking care of them Ga.. what I meant was you never know what can happen. I've had the power go out for a month before in December and I've had my water pipes freeze up and couldnt get them thawed for over a week. Theres always bottled water but no lights for a month isnt good. BUT who knows... I might try to take a clone off one of these and try it out. I've still got my CFL's and my little 150w HPS light, would the 150w be too hot to start the clones or would I need to use the CFL's?

Drew... I of course dont know much about cloning, but I would think that you would only clone a plant that is a known female. Using feminized seeds to get your mother from.

I am using feminized seeds I just heard that you can still get a male from feminized seeds. Guess I could try and clone anyways and just toss them if the mother turns out to be male

Drew...To answer the question as to when is the right time to clone? As soon as you have a few shoots to take a cutting while in veg. How do you know your cloning a male? You gotta sex the plant. Meaning you have to put them under 12/12 light to tell. If they show lil' balls? It's a male.. Sows lil' white pistils... It's female... Takes around 7 days to sex them..

Just a thought... I've never taken a cutting from a feminized seed before,nor an auto flowering seed. There is too much that can take place without regular beans! I think fatherjack has some regular Northern Lights... So the info I suggest pretains to a regular type bean..

Meaning if done wrong you can hurt the plant? Why would it be any different when trying to clone one grown from a feminized seed.

And "sexing" the plant wont dammage it by forcing it to flower then bringing it back to a veg state again?

The girls I have in there now are from feminized seeds... I cant take cuttings from them? See, I'm confused already... thats why I have stuck to just poppin seeds. lol

What I said was I never did it.... Don't mean ya can't... Just never have... I would never take a cutting from an auto flower for sure! See no reason you can't with a Feminized though! I'll keep ya track! Don't fret or get confused... Everythangs gonna be alright!
