Typical time from seed unitl flowering??

It seems like a lot of people on here are growing with clones. I've heard growing from seed is a pain but it was the only available option I had at this time. My question is what is the typical time it takes to grow from a seed before you start flowering? My plants are about 6 weeks old and most are a foot tall and I will be transplanting the last few into larger containers soon. They all look pretty healthy and green. I do have 2 clones which are much taller but leaves are smaller and less bushy and they don't look as healthy as the ones I started from seed. I am growing under an 1000w mh light if that makes a difference. I could provide pics if it helps. I was checking out some grow logs and it seems some people are even flowering at a month? Maybe clones mature faster? I always thought typical time was 2-3 month veg and anywhere from 2-6 weeks on top of that for flowering depending on what kind of strain. Thanks

Assuming your not using an auto flowering strain, I've seen most people start flowering between 1 and 2' depending on strains. However, I have seen 2 week old clones go straight into flower as well. (that would be about 9-12")

It surely has alot to do with your grow method, personally I will be topping and screening, and then flowering at 1', this will give me about 8 7" cola's per plant (or so I hope). I'm only looking for big colas for personal use, I plan on giving all the undergrowth away, so I guess, really... whatever your looking for. I want more big firm colas, less popcorn, and I'll be flowering right away -

Keep in mind, I'm on my first grow, and a novice when it comes to cannabis, but I've grown plenty of fruits and veggies, a 'weed' should be pretty simple

So if it were me, and my plants where 12", I'd be flowering, but my setup might not be like yours. My question is, why are you transplanting now? From what I've read you should have transplanted around 4-5", about when the roots were filling up the bottom of your seedlings pot. Again, my grow is a little different, but I'll be putting my seedlings directly into what I plan to flower in - Not sure exactly what that is yet, you can read my grow log if you want (not thread jacking)

Best of luck to you, have you topped or fim'ed at all?

No topping yet. Maybe I should since I have limited space in my tent. I had no choice on the clones as I committed to buy them and found they were way too big for the pot they were in so as soon as I got them I had to transplant. Some of my other containers I got I just decided they were too small once they started slowing growing a little. Half of my plants were put right from their sprouted seed into the pot they will finish in so thankfully I wont have to transplant those. Pictures to follow

Just a note i started from seed and began flowering at one foot. It is now 1month later and it is more than four feet tall forcing me to bend which has been stressing and possibly hermie-ing it. Keep your space in mind

I wanted to give you an idea to mull over. With limited space, I can give you a few more inches by simply trading in your 5 gallon buckets for a lower cut plastic storage bin. I've seen a grower (pics on here under 3lbs per light) put his plants a few inches apart in a 'sea of soil' that is roughly 4.5 to 5" deep. His plants have all very healthily intermingled roots, and the yields speak for themselves.

That being said, since you haven't started topping yet, it's not too late to scrog - Basically setup a net or fence type system and start running your stems through it, branching them out, you can top before this if you like, but since your low on space, I'd just suggest bushing them out now, and start flowering. Since you haven't transplanted yet, it would also be a great time to check out the soil tip!

Are you planning to switch to a HP bulb for flowering?

Lets get those pics up - I just started my first grow log on here, feel free to check that out as well, my setup isn't currently using the shared rooting system, but it will by the time my seedlings start to veg (as well as scrog/topping/fim/bending)

You'll notice in my grow log there are 3 gallon pots with holes around the edge - This is setup to turn my girls into a funnel from the time I start to veg, basically, I will start bending as soon as they are no longer seedlings, bending the main branch (and topping it) and tying down all the sub branches, so when my 1' girls start to flower, they'll only be about 7" tall, but they'll grow in a spiral, creating a funnel of buds. I can get away with this because I have great lighting, and underbrush lighting as well. If you don't have great lighting, you can do the exact same thing, in more of a pine cone shape, tying your branches to the edges, and getting smaller as it goes up instead of larger, mine will look like a tornado, while ones with lesser light would look like an upside down cone.

Since your bending your plant slightly, and as it grows, it won't be as stressful, with a much lower chance to hermie. Also, I've noticed people that use this method, have much longer and denser popcorn buds from the undergrowth that are actually worth keeping

Yes going to be switching to an HPS for flowering. I wouldn't say my space is extremely limited, its just crowed with my exhaust fan, portable ac unit, and small oscillating fan. The tent is actually 78" tall. Im growing for myself and 2 other mmj patients so I was hoping to get a few ounces per plant.

I was thinking about getting a portable AC - What kind did you get, The smallest one I could find was a bit larger than I would have liked, probably about 14" square and about 3.5' tall.

I've got my box next to a window air conditioner, but its not vented properly, so the door needs to be open to cool it off, kind of a drag. Especially since it looks like the sun is sitting in the corner of my room!

What strain are you growing? That will ultimately depend on your yield, and of course how you treat your plants between now and then. What nutes are you using now? What are you going to use for flowering?

I got the portable LG rated at 9k btu. (home depot) It cost around 300-350 brand new but I found mine almost new on Craigslist for 100 that would be the way to go if you ask me. It works great to cool my 8ftx4ftx6.5ft tent especially with the help of the exhaust fan

Im growing sour diesel and some kind of kush (purple I believe. Was so excited when I got the seeds I planted them and forgot to label.) Most of the plants appear to be kush and I think only one is the sour d. (The leaves on one appear longer and slender like a sativa. Most of the sour d died I think. I know newbie grower lol) Ive already got some more beginner friendly strains which I plan on starting soon

I have been using a typical tomato plant fertilizer 20/20/20 once a week at 50% since they were a few weeks old, but just switched to the fox farm grow big and big bloom for vegging and will be using the fox farm tiger bloom for flowering

So from what I've read and what everyone is telling me is once you start to flower the growth of the plants will explode and probably triple and may even quadruple?
