    hermaphrodite problem?

I was told that my plants, that are clones, are hermaphroditing because they are too close to my 600 watt HPS light. I have no light leaking in the room, my temperature is always between 73 - 83 degrees even right next to the light. Is the light being too close causing this or not. I need some help figuring out why they are hermaphroditing.

How far is that 600 away from the top of the plants? Most hermie problems come from stress whether it be too much nutes, too hot, light leaks, etc during flower. It could also be in the genetics themselves. Ive been pretty rough and neglectful on my plants in veg sometimes but as long as the plant is healthy before I flower, theres usually no problems.

    hermaphrodite problem?

Three of them are about 6 to 8 inches and one is about two to three inches. I have temp gauges right next to the light and they read 83 degrees. I have 3 other strains that are not hermaphroditing about the same distance from the lights.

I would almost be willing to bet its the strain. The light is pretty damn close though for a 600. I run 8" with 400 and i have to keep a close eye when its that close. Now if you are running ducting and inclosed hood, thats a total different story. If your temp is under 85, i think the most that would happen is a little light bleaching. Maybe someone will pop in with a little more info for ya cause thats about all i got haha.

It's strain related. Your light would only burn them. Dutch masters reverse should take care of it if you like the strain. Just getting ready to try some on a NL femm that puts out banana's early and makes too many beans.

Do you have a light meter to check the light? That seems awfully close but I realize there's a broad variety of opinions on lighting and that's off topic. Having done a few clones, stressed a few plants and a couple harvests I concur with the others that more likely than not it's the strain. I've gotten them too close and well it wasn't pretty but it wasn't a gender bender.

It is the genetics, the whole point of the light you have is to be able to get the plant closer to the light without causing problems. There are just some plants that no matter how well you treat them the still turn hermie. You can still get a good yield from these plants, remove all male parts. I had a strain from greenhouse seeds and it was a hermie, but after taking males part off, it produced a considerable yield. If I was you I would invest in some more cuttings from elsewhere or buy some seeds.
