noob grower needing help
Hi i am a long time smoker:rasta: first time grower
. I am getting sick of the Irish prices, quantity and quality like â?¬50 2g-2.5g and could be sprayed (60% of the time it is). So with months of this happening I have decided to take the risk and grow my own. I am limited to space and funds for my grow and would love some advice from growers both Irish and from around the world. I have 2 choice to my grow space 1. H 3'3" x L 3' x W 2'6" - 2. H 4' x L 3' x W 1'8". Not a big difference but would more height be better than more width. I plan on using 6 x CFL 23w, 2 x 4" computer fan with ducting for sound (exhaust and intake), 1 x 4" circulating fan. I plan on building a box to above sizes and lining it with Mylar. I am a bit lost on what soil i should be using and which nutrients. Also what is a good strain for a starter and medium height. All help is welcome and if you think i left out anything please let me know.
Thanks 00smokey00smokey Reviewed by 00smokey on . noob grower needing help Hi i am a long time smoker:rasta: first time grower:D. Go for width IMO.. you can use techniques like Low Stress Training (LST) or Supercropping to control the hieght.. and more width will allow you to have more plants on the floor. Most of the guys I know that grow well use Sunshine Mix #4 for their soil... it has the perfect pH for growing Cannabis. You would be best to start out with a tried and tested 3 part nutrient system. They can be found at any hydroponic store, and some year round nursery's will carry them as well. I would recommend General Hydroponics Flora Series as it is the cheapest and gives you everything your plants need. The website has simple feeding scheduals you can use to start out. Cannabis can handle a LOT more than what they recommend in optimum conditions.. but their formula will give you healthy plants and a useable end result. I would also recommend using a seaweed extract like Growth Plus as a foilar spray. Mist your plants with it every day right when your lights come on.. It will help with mold and mildew.. and you will notice a BIG difference in growth if you spray vs not spray.. The stuff works awesome.. I highly recommend! Check out my thread http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-gro...w-attempt.html it outlines a grow that I am helping a friend of mine through. Its a much larger scale than what you have, but there are a lot of good tidbits for new growers... This is only his second crop! Good luck!
I grow food.. Not weed.. But I like weed.. So I will help you grow it as best I can ;-)

All autoflower means is the plant will mature in the time specified regardless of light cycle. I have heard mixed reviews as far as potency and yeild.. but I have never grown one myself (Ive actually never grown weed.. LOL) But I have also been an avid smoker for years and have read about auto flowering strains in High Times.. lol... you would probably be best off going with a strong induca strain.. the low ryder strains are fairly forgiving for beginners so Ive heard.. and they stay nice and short which should work well for your set up. If you keep a close eye on your plants, and watch for signals they give you.. These things grow like weeds in optimum environments... keep the environment controlled.. you will grow like that in no time ;-) Just remember.. if you go cheap.. you will grow cheap!
