    HELP..White Widdow first attempt

Not sure whats happening but my plants are about 42 days old from seedlings, and one is short and bushy id say a foot and a half the other is about 2 feet and lengthy, both female white widdow plants. im using 2 flourescent bulbs t7's i think 25W a peice? (please let me kno if i need stronger bulbs cause im going to get new ones soon.) and im also following the Fox farm trio soil chart, running at about ph lvl of 6 so far so good, however the bottom set of leaves are twisted yellowing and starting to die, is this nute burn? of a defficiancy? it cant be caused by root suffication because I transplanted them into 3 gal buckets with 1inch of pebbles at the bottom for easy drainage. The only thing i can think of is the soil i used.. (MG root enhancement somethin or other) i didnt realise it had 3 months of plant food already in it.. but idk any experts let me know what you think.:rastasmoke::rastasmoke:

Looks like two healthy plants to me. The lower leaves will tend to get yellow and fall off. Its normal. You might wanna add some cfls around the plants so they will have more light. The more light you can add along with keeping temps in control, the better the your end product will be. So far so good. Looking great man!

Word I appreciate it, I just swapped out my lights today with 15 watt T-8's they say they r 1125 lumens each so hopefully that should help other than that im going to try and get a reflective metal cover for the side of the lights to dispurse more light towards the bottom, not sure what they are actually called.. But whatever, give me back some more feedback or tips as I am still new to this.

Big bucket, big plant, tiny light. In the words of Tim the Toolman, you need more power. I started last October with this method. I eventually worked my way up to a bank of four shoplights and it was going pretty good for vegging.

I understand completely what your saying, since then I have replaced the 2 florescent with 1200 lumen bright white bulbs and I've added 3 cfl's aswell and each bulb gives off 1600 lumens each, its substantially more light so hopefully they shall thicken up, other than that i'm on day 52 about 2 Weeks and 3 days into flowing staying to look nice can't wait to see the final outcome of everything, also not to mention I've had several leaves say quilting away not sure if that's bad or just due to the light issue and also once in awhile I see these little fruit fly looking bugs flying around my plant what are they and do they affect the plant in anyway, I always kill them on site lol but get back to me any extra info is always encouraged.:rasta:

If they tend to be more active when you water they are fungus gnats. They lay eggs in the moist soil and are generally harmless but can get into your roots. There are countless threads on the perils and solutions. You could probably benefit quite a bit from a 400w digital ballast/hood/hps setup. If you put them into flowering the first of September they should be well into their stretch by now and beginning the bud swell. I have a blue mystic plant that I started flowering the first of September and it was six inches tall. Now it's almost four feet. I'm no pro but a 400w digital ballast/hood/bulb combo can be had for under $200 and delivered in a couple days from Amazon. Buy some of the thick foam insulation at HD that has the radiant barrier (foil) on it and cut/build walls for your room if you have the chance. It's really about the best reflective material for your dollar. You won't need massive ventilation with that light.

HMMM..while I agree you could use more light...who could'nt right, you can never have to much. The issue I see in your OP is the MG soil w/ Fox Farms trio. Have you been using the nutes full strength? If so I am happy for you that they are as healthy as they seem to be. MG soil is not bad but alot of growers have issues with it. I do not use it myself, but I have in the past. Grew very nice plants but MG soil can be tricky and is often missused by over-watering and adding additional nutes. If this were my grow I would stop the nutes, prune the dead leaves and let them finish vegging. After switch to 12/12 I would start the trio at 1/4-1/2 strength (closer to a 1/4 better to under nute than to over nute). I also would not increase the Grow Big solution more than 1/4 dose. It is high in N and will keep them nice and green but the soil nutes have a lot of N as well. Best of luck!

With all the money spent on those other lights you could have just added a few dollars to it and got an HID. There is a brand new 400W MH/HPS on ebay for $113.98 shipped. I dont think we're allowed to post links so here is the item number...190704534174. (and no its not mine, I just happen to run across it the other day and saved it.) The ad says he has more than 10 available.

This is all very good information, i immediatley reduced my nute solution because i realised fan leaves were starting to brown and wilt away very quickly, the buds arent very big but their are many bud sites, i figured this was due to light problems, I have taken into consideration if i was to grow again i would invest in an hps/mh and something with a ventilation system and carbon filter or charcoal filter since it tends to stink the house up slightly. as for the bugs i killed a few and havent seen any since exepct 1 today, as of today i am about 72 days in from the start of seed, around 4 weeks in flowering and they are looking nice and crystally, widdafred is starting to orange on the hairs first but overall it should be some good after product. I shall post pics soon of the buds.. Time to go rip the ol' bong :rastasmoke:
