    1st GROW 1st FLOWER

So IM starting my flower on an accidental grow. If anyone would like to keep tabs or throw pointers my way feel free. I can't post pic for some reason but i will try to explain my layout. I bought a u haul box that's 20 in wide by 24 long and 4 feet tall(grand wardrobe box) i have all light leaks covered and 2 cfl's hanging from the handy closet bar and 2 more covering the sides in lamps. My only problem i have is ventilation. IM thinking of possibly just an exhaust hole since the lights don't get that hot. If that wouldn't work could i use a double cornered piece with a fan to keep light out but let air in? Also, how stinky would this be? Could a grow be done with no ventilation in the 12 hour off period but still giving it air during 12 on? Thanks to anyone

Plants exhale oxygen through the roots at night, and inhale Co2 through the leaves during the day. Its not necessary to change out the air at night, but if you are not using a Co2 supplement you will need fresh air coming in as the plants will use up all the Co2 in that box within a few hours or less when the lights are on. And yes.. it will be stinky! Even one plant if not vented straight out of the house.. will smell up the place something fierce! If you are worried about smell, you may want to spend a little extra money and invest in a Co2 system of some sort.. I have seen a few "Home Made" versions using Yeast and bread crumbs.. google it you will find the recipie.. Most hydro stores also sell Co2 canisters that are a one time use kinda thing.. Ive never used them so I cant really say how they work... The benifit to Co2 is it allows you to seal your room up completely and keep the smell inside the box! I have only ever seen the sealed method used with very high Co2 levels using a Co2 burner or tank system.. so im not sure how it would work with one of the cans.. but it would be better than nothing Im sure! Just remember.. if you go cheap.. you grow cheap!

Another option would be to hook up a charcoal can to your exhaust fan.. that way when the smell exits the box.. it goes through the filter and the smell is killed.. Both options cost some money.. But the safety and health of your crop is worth it IMO!
