Keeping seedlings moist and happy after planting....
Hey Folks, first indoor grow. Using a Mr Grow Pro PC box and four 23w CFLs. The bulbs are daylight range color spectrum. Strain is AK48. Here's the story:
The seeds popped within 24 hours using the soak in water & paper towel method. I then placed them in 12 oz solo cups filled about 3/4 of the way with FoxFarm potting soil. I carefully planted the seeds about 1/2 inch in. All good. Couple days later, all five sprouted and three of them have close to an inch of stem showing already. So far, so good. The problem I'm having is keeping the seedlings & soil moist. The inside of the grow box isn't getting too hot, I believe it's more the fans and the lights drying out the top of the soil quickly. I have only used a misting sprayer with spring water for watering as to not over water. I get concerned because I know you cannot let these pups dry out! So, I find myself misting them every 3-4 hours since the top of the dirt especially gets very dry. The bulbs are about 3-4 inches from the seedlings. I'm on a 24/7 light cycle for now too if that matters.
This morning, I actually slowly poured some water into each cup to make sure the lower soil was getting wet since I had been so easy with the misting. They seem to be OK but I get scared worrying about them drying out. I could move the lights further away but then the plants won't get much light since CFLs need to be close to work properly.
Am I over worrying? Can the lights be moved further away? Is regular misting a normal part of a stealthy indoor grow?
Thanks....RoadLizard Reviewed by RoadLizard on . Keeping seedlings moist and happy after planting.... Hey Folks, first indoor grow. Using a Mr Grow Pro PC box and four 23w CFLs.
