First time subb-er, couple of hiccups...

So, last Wed. I took a drug test at LabCorp. I used testclear powdered urine, I am a heavy smoker and there was no way I would have been clean in time. I practiced several times before going. The temp seemed to get too high, so I decided to take the heaters off right before I went in and just crotch it. Two things happened that make me worry....

1) Right before I went in, when I tested the temp in the car, the digital thermometer got a couple of fleck of something (dirt? not sure) in the sample. I quickly dipped the flecks out and it was fine. I don't think they were anything terrible, like weed flecks, but still I worry that I "contaminated" the sample? I didn't leave them in there for the testers to see, but still...

2) Though the temp strip read 96, when I poured the sample in the cup it must've cooled off when it poured,because the cup only read 90. She accepted the sample and marked "yes" in the spot for whether it was in the correct temp range. She said a loud that the temp was 90 and there were two other ladies in the room. No one said anything or acted suspicious though. All she put int he remarks section of the paper was "temp 90". She packaged it into two little cups and I left. I know they took it, but I worry that this will arouse suspicion and that they might test it more thoroughly or something.

I am also worried because the HR person said that she would "hopefully contact me Thurs. morning" and it is now Monday and I haven't heard anything. I am freaking out because I heard it takes longer if it is a bad result (like substituted).!! However, I also did a background check and fingerprints, so I have no way of knowing if she knows yet or not. Sorry for the long post, but I am so terrified! Any thoughts from experienced subbers?

I am so anxious. I know you can't give me an answer, but I would love some input. Especially about whether the temperature could have tipped them off as far as testing it more.

Sounds like you should be fine. The sample wasn't going to be done testing by thursday. HR didn't know what they were talking about. They should have the test results today. The background check can take a while depending on who's doing it. Have seen them take a couple weeks. I wouldn't worry. I would call HR sometime this week and see if you have a start date yet. Don't ask anything about the drug test.
For ruture reference when the temp is too low in the collection cup, take your thumb and rub it against your clothes for a few seconds and then hold it against the temp strip on the collection cup. When it says 98 hand it to the tech.

Just got word that I passed! I'm not sure if I would do it again because it was a week of gut-wrenching anxiety, but I passed! Gonna go smoke a celebratory bowl!

Umm...I may have to disagree...and sorry as a first time poster..to do so. I did a test this morning...tried the sub...thought I had the temp right...but turned out it was actually too low. Weird but I felt that it might be when i was in the testing room so i tried to hold the strip...also tried the friction thing. That strip didn't move. It stayed black as night, not registering a good temp. AAArrg. So, don't depend on the friction thing due to time and possibly they did something to the strip to make it so external heat sources dont work...i don't know...just theorizing. The test was with Quest. Now the good side to this story...they will let me retest...they really want me to work bad..and of course i do too. It really sucks that all i do is smoke a little weed. I"m a damn network engineer...couldn't do that being on anything else but weed..lol. These laws against natural pain cures is BS. Yea, I'm preaching and bitching to the choir. Anyway, they're giving me a second chance today...so, heading to the smoke shop to get the synth kit. This way, I have a heating source...a good temp strip..(not thermometer like my dumb as was using...lol) and I also have a sub. That way if this shit doesn't work again, I can stay...keep my extra sample at body temp between my legs..and try again. Should have been my way from jump...like with everything...always have backup. I'll continue tonight to let you guys know if my dumb ass can get this temp right. Thanks for this board and everyone on it, thanks for you help.
