for soil i like to aim at 7.0 and for hydro around 6. In soil it needs to be a little higher because you are much more dependent on the microbiology in the media. Mychorrizae and beneficial bacteria thrive in less acidic environments, and are crucial in the success in an organic garden.

PH is a HUUUUGGEEE deal when it comes to growing any plant, be it marijuana, peppers, or tomatoes. If the Ph is out of wack, nutrients can't be absorbed by the plant and they show defiency. Google search "marijuana ph graph". Soak in the knowledge....................
