Anyone ever had a "monitored collection"
Hi all,
Have a pre-employment tomorrow. I have no problem subbing. BUT I am not familiar with the testing site this time. The testing site IS a division of the company I will be working for....and they may even be the lab... my concern is that there might not be a designated testing area and that I may end up in a stalled/public bathroom....with a monitor. They are not allowed to look...only listen. Has anyone ever subbed in that situation? Any advice?
Also I smoked up until this afternoon... I am afraid they would whip the mouth swab out on me... BUT it states in policy and procedure that it will be blood and/or urine and farther down it says urine.....so thinking I might be safe on the swab thing?ciz4sinderella Reviewed by ciz4sinderella on . If they have their back turned to you it should still be relatively easy to sub still. Watch out for mirrors. If they're watching in a mirror just tell them you have a shy bladder. They can not watch with out reasonable suspicion that you're cheating. So just remain calm and don't allow them to break protocol.

Thanks for responding....and thanks for the info. Fortunately I was able to go pick up the paperwork and go to a regular testing site that uses Qwest. But I will keep this in mind for future reference. My only concern is that my shop only had 1 bottle of Quick Fix and the box was hammered....had been opened REPEATEDLY...but they had PLENTY of stuff called The Quick Solution. Can't find any reviews on the stuff...I did find the color to be more real. And it says it has uric acid and actually grows bacteria (just reading off the box) ...... I did really like their lil self adhesive warmer...praying it works. Ordering a supply of QF to keep on hand.

From the DHHS regulations
The procedure for a direct observed collection is the same as that for a routine collection except an observer watches the donor urinate into the collection container. At the point in a routine collection where the donor enters the restroom with the collection container (see Section C, Step 10), a direct observed collection includes the following additional steps:
• The observer must be the same gender as the donor. There are no exceptions to this requirement. The individual serving as the direct observer enters the restroom with the donor.
• The observer must directly watch the urine go from the donor’s body into the collection container. The use of mirrors or video cameras is not permitted.
