customizing some shit

i have a runt growroom now, but if things progress well enough i will certainly move the operation somewhere better suited to grow plants than my small bathroom shower stall.
bascally i am gonna plan this out with my friend tehpwn who posts on here, and i wanna make sure we arent forgetting anything major...
okay, the rundown of what weve got:

1. pots, about 10 inches dia, ten or eight deep. we know we shoulod transplant. to that effect, for space considerations, what is the safest bet PER PLANT regarding pot size?

2. aluminum foil for the walls, but i hear good things about mylar (?) sheeting. where can i get this? and does it make a significant difference?

3. a hangable 400 - 1000w socket for hid mh or hps, switchable ballast. i miraculously picked this up from a friend who wasnt using it

4. four 15w fluor sticks that i figured could sit about on a line with the topsoil to encourage horizontal growth.

5. a timer with a grounded plug that can go around 1300watts.

6. a standing fan to blow heat out of the room, a smaller desk fan that blows onto the stems of the plants.

7. some of that jiffy 7 shit i heard was no good...any ideas? experience? good or no?

8. distilled water for watering, should i use regular tap once they begin growing?

basically, theres no way i can put in a fume hood and run the hot air out of my house, as i live with the ol rents. i just wanted some ideas as to what manner of room i should set up. what kind of tables, what methods of germination? is there any special stuff spacewise or utilitywise that i need for when i start cloning and sexing the plants and whatnot? essentially, i wanna know from yalls gathered experience what is some good shit to help with the setup that reallly cant go wrong? basically any product or method you guys have had god success with id like to know about. i mean, i know i could go to overgrow.com or something, but i want more specifics i guess. anything is super appreciated always..

I have seen mylar or somthing close to it at lowes.You want at least a gallon of dirt per foot hieght of plant. Spring water is fine . tap is ok if you have a well . city tap water sucks . there is chlorine in it.plus other chemicals. germinate in a wash clothe in a dark warm place . Keep it damp. It is good if you have a spare bedroom that you could grow in. But most people do a closet or make a box of some type. example a 4x4 area enclosed with white panel board. Use floro shop lights around the sides with an 600-1000 watt hps . i done ten plants in a 4x4 and got about 5 pounds.They were clones and all females. cloning is not my thing i have done it . You might wanna get someone who is better at it.. to answer your questions.

You can get mylar from WalMart or any sporting goods store. That's the material "space blankets" are made from, and cost $1 - $2, which is about a 7' x 8' piece (varies). Find it in the sporting goods section.
