how should i hang 4 CFL light bulbs?

how should i mount my CFL bulbs? im only growing 1 or 2 plants and i have 4 cfl bulbs that are 32 watts each. should i just put all 4 lights 3 inches away from the top of the plant? will that be ok? also what kind of light fixture should i use? ( how should i mount the lights? e.g plug them into a power bar)
