A little background about myself...

I have no experience in growing anything. EVER.
All of my knowledge from growing cannabis comes from this site and other miscellaneous sites.

Now, on to the good stuff.

Growroom setup- I'm growing in a closet. The dimensions are 4'4"X6'X8' I have two T5 Hydrofarm 24Watt High Output 6400K for my seedlings. I have two 68Watt CFLs that I haven't used yet. I also have one 400Watt HPS/MH interchangeable lamp/ballast combo. I have no reflective material anywhere on the walls. The paint itself is a soft white.

The temperature in the closet currently stays at around 80F-82F. The humidity stays at a constant 38%-46%. (These temps and humidity %'s are with the two T5s running) I assume the humidity changes due to showering.

I started with 7 random seeds. All which came from decent stuff, but I have no idea what the exact strain is.

I germinated the 7 seeds, 3 at one time, and then 4 another time about 5 days apart. The first three I used the wet paper towel method in plastic baggy and sat it on top of an AC/DC converter. All was well, the seeds had tiny taproots and looked good. I can't remember exactly what had happened, but I left for the day to do something and came back and the paper towel was nearly dry and the taproots were slightly brown. One of the taproots seemed to be a more brown than the other. I applied more water and left it for another day.

The next day, 6/27/12 I figured it was ready to plant my newly germinated seeds. I really wasn't prepared. I used 5oz clear plastic cups. The grow medium was sloppily thrown together with me eyeballing 1 part perlite, 1 part vermiculite, and 1 part worm castings for the three germed seeds. Within 24 hours, two of the three had come through to get its first look at life. I waited three more days and nothing ever came from the other seed. I figured it was a dead cause since the taproot was most likely dried out. During those 4 days, the other two thrived.

On 6/30/2012, I planted 4 seeds that I germed using the soak in water method 48 hours prior. The seeds sunk within the first 6 hours and I left them in until they all had cracked open and had a small taproot. This time I wanted to record exact amounts of all parts of the medium and experiment with what I would want to consider as my go to medium. Trial and error if you will. I used four different mixtures. I planted all of these in 16oz plastic cups.

Mixture One â?? 1 Part Worm Castings, 1 Part Vermiculite, 1 Part Perlite, 1 Part Sphagnum Peat Moss.
Mixture Two â?? 1 Part Worm Castings, 1 Part Sphagnum Peat Moss, 2 Part Vermiculite, 2 Part Perlite
Mixture three â?? 1 Part Worm Castings, 1 Part Perlite, 2 Part Vermiculite
Mixture Four â?? 4 Part Worm Castings, 1 Part Perlite, 1 Part Vermiculite, 1 Part Sphagnum Peat Moss

All four of these mixtures seem to do pretty well currently. Itâ??s now 7/6/12 and they are looking pretty good I think. Today I purchased some poly for my closet and will be installing it today or tomorrow. I also donâ??t have any real ideas about how to set up a grow room in my closet. Like including a place for seedlings, clones, mother, veg, and flower section. Any ideas on setup and closet design for the dimensions of my closest from anyone?

I will continually add more info to this entry throughout my first grow.
