Time to be a dad
Unquestionably, you DID the correct and right thing, Dad!! Reps to ya!
I listened to Ed Rosenthal speak last night and somewhere else the night before. His children were raised around it and have nothing to do with it. A gal I knew did the same, her sons are successful men and will not use marijuana.
Somehow, I think people that use on a regular basis, must need it. I watch quiet people toke and then light up and speak! I listen to guys talk after a few hits and my head just spins at the things they think to speak about. Most interesting conversations, too. The body has a receptors for and our own cannabinoid system, I think if our system is down or depleted, we crave that what fixes it. Like the pieces of a puzzle.
In teaching your son, as a responsible adult, I'd even ask for information you might want to give him. I definitlely would do some research and give him an education on medicinal uses of marijuana and the endocannabinoid system--and as it relates to our bodies. Dr. David Bearman, an M.D. with much experience in addictions, etc. has some books out with the information.
It is my belief that we must educate people to understand it is not playing with an illegal drug, if your M.D. has recommended it for you. When people really do realize the medicinal value is #1 and getting high is simply a nice benefit of the meds.
After injury and use for pain, etc. I don't get the 'happy' out of it like I did when I did not seem to need the medicine so much. It is my belief, that the 'happy' is treating my symptoms. Going from a great deal of pain to almost absent in a minute--best medicine I can find.
Rule #1..Never lie. The truth will set you free! I am learning, when it comes to my mmj use, I can no longer be silent.
Guess, I'd educate him, as soon as I possibly could. Not waiting for the "of age" deal. As, our bodies are made to naturally learn how to deal with other issues of life and hold out for a 'proper' age..parenting, drinking, etc. We learn at a far younger age-the pitfalls. Teaching respect of it prior to a certain age, is a good idea.
I've recently met a few guys that were problems with their parents with pot decades ago. Now, we laugh at it, as the same sons are moving home to grow for their Moms. Tells you a few things. People are in pain and having health issues and turning to something that is a healthy organic alternative, that happens to work.
It is doubtful, there is another medication that, may one day, have elements in it that we have receptors to in our bodies. When those match up with the cannabis--bingo! Regardless, of how one stumbles upon a medciation that makes your outlook on life and life itself, easier. Easier, because we know this plant works in areas in the brain that control our behavior, not make it worse-like some liquids we can buy of a certain age. The big difference would be..
The GateWay Theory.. get ready for it. Heard it explained best last night by a Mother Against Prohibition. It is a gateway to the penal system where her son learned to use major I.V. medications, that are now the problem. In jail, they learn how to and can use about all they desire. Once in the system, there is more exposure and access.
Good luck, you did well! Best to tell the truth, no matter what. prpainretreat Reviewed by painretreat on . Time to be a dad My neighbor and I smoke. My 17 year old son did not know I smoked until the neighbor told him I did when my son saw him smoking. He also gave him a cigarette. The neighbor also admitted to me that on occasion he does other substances as well I however do not. My son came to question me. I was left with a choice. Lie and hope he never finds out or tell the truth. I told him the truth that my wife and I smoke. I even took him on a nature walk and showed him my plant. He said " WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW Rating: 5
