Will Quest Diagnostics reject the sample if the temp is out of range?
Hello all.....
Just took my first ever UA at Quest in NJ
I subbed a friends clean urine and withing 30 minutes was in the lab.
I continually checked the temp and it was holding steady at 97.X.
When i went in to fill the cup, the temp strip read 94-96, then dropped to 92-94 by the time I submitted it.
The technician did not say anything, just checked the temp, filled a vile, had me dump the rest, and had me sign a form. i reviewed the form and could not find anything in it saying the temperature was (or wasnt) in range.
Should I be nervous? This was a last second job opportunity and couldnt do anything else but sub.
I am freaking out. My anxiety is fucking me up big time. This position is a career changer for me....
Can anybody give me any insight if the lab would have notified me if it was out of range?
Thank you very much. This is a great forum.Surviving Reviewed by Surviving on . Will Quest Diagnostics reject the sample if the temp is out of range? Hello all..... Your temp was still within the acceptable range of (90-100F). The collector was correct in not saying anything.
Now if the temp were to be outside of this range, the collector would have you submit another sample immediately and under direct observation. The collector would then process and send off both samples, and indicate on the CCF form that a resubmit under D/O had taken place and the reason(s) why.
Since this obviously did not happen to you, you have nothing to worry about.

Burnt Toast, I can not thank you enough.
Your insight and input on these boards made this process 10000x less stressful (I probably would have ran into traffic with the anxiety Ive been having about this without utilizing the boards for research.)
I apologize for repeating questions (im sure most people going through this process for the first time can relate), but you are positive if the temperature was an issue, it would have been bought up immediately? I did not see any documentation stating that the temp was in (or out of) the acceptable range. She just glanced at the cup, filled a vile and told me to dump the rest. I signed a form and was on my way.
I dont mean to question you, because as I said before, you eased my fears exponentially with regards to the sub method, but i will be essentially dry heaving with anxiety until I get the results (hopefully Monday). If you are (or ever will be) in the NJ/NYC area, a smoke session for the history books is on me.
