Mataro Blue Autoflower Feminised Outdoor Grow

Hey hey hey boys and girls....

So I decided to give a little update on my new outdoor batch which just went out today

I have quite a few (lots) outdoor plants this year in a few different locations. I hear we are in for a hot dry summer this year so why no take full advantage of it !

So the plants I have out are mainly feminised seeds just like the ones in my grow tent. However, I cant wait until the end of October for a smoke of my outdoor stuff.

So I decided to get my hands on some hardy auto flowers, Mataro Blue Autoflower (feminised) to be precise. I got them off the Rhino Seed company website.

I got 10 for â?¬55, I think that's $70 or so. I planted them and had 100% germination. They all look great and went in the ground outdoors today.

I was thinking of trying an auto flower for quite some time and the Mataro Blue is a hardy but powerful strain. Check out the stats on it:

    Mataro Blue Auto feminized autoflowering:

(Blueberry x Afghan x Black Domina)
It forms large tails with very compact flowers. It also encourages the growth of lower branches, which may produce a few grams of dry bud. The higher THC levels are very evident, resulting in an increase in psychoactivity and a very 'brainy high. The calyx leaf ratio is very stable, with large, broad lime-green leaves. Subject to low temperatures, the colours change from bluish to purple.
It withstands excess fertilizer well and is highly resistant to pests of all kinds.

Its Mataro heritage is also responsible for the production of masses of trichomes that cover the flowers and leaves, turning the plant an amber colour during flowering, with a bluish shade if it is subjected to controlled periods of coldThe flavour is fermented fruit with mildly earthy notes.

It develops slowly during growth stage, and will ripen correctly within 65 days. From seed, indoor cycle with a photoperiod of 12/12 or 14/10 is 8-9 wks for optimal ripening.
    Outdoor flowering cycle: 3 months.

    Indoor

    Height: Around 70 cm
    Yield: 20-30 gr/plant

    Outdoor

    Height: 150-160 cm
    Yield: 75 gr/plant

So I will now have 2 outdoor harvests at different times this summer and I will also make good use of the sunniest months here, June, July and August...
This doesn't include the 2 indoor harvest I will have between now and November

Here are my new little ladies They will be ready for harvest in about 10 weeks, whereas the other wont be finished for another 20 weeks....

Yeah, those seeds are great. Talk to the member Cannabis-Seeds to get them. They are on the Rhino Seed Company website too.

Yeah, regular plants outdoors here wont be done until the end September - early October. Keep a close eye for mould around then. Bend the buds to open them and see inside.

If you see a grey, web like stuff them you have mould. It's best to kill that particular plant and remove it, if you think the mould is caught early and it is only seen on one small area then you could cut that branch off. But be very sure you don't spread it on to the other plants with your hands. It's best to spread out your plants in the Irish climate so you don't get a full on outbreak.

I heard that we should be in for a good July, Aug and Sept. Always keep a good track on your weather, I have the weather on my iPhone and programmed in the areas so I get a weekly report. It's normally showing me rain, rain and more rain but I hope the coming months will clear up.

Planting under a big tree with a high canopy can help as long as it doesn't shade your plants. It could help to keep a lot of the rain off them.

With regard to frost I wouldn't worry so much, you will be pulling those plants at the end of Sept - early October I'm guessing so frost won't be a big danger. If the forecast predicts some frost then I would go and pull the lot of them to be honest. I don't know how you could protect them from that other than planting on low lying, shaded ground.

Anyway, If you see a lot of very wet weather in your area from the start of Sept to harvest then keep a close eye on the buds for bud rot. Bud rot is a type of fungal spore which can be spread by the wind. It can pass on to each plant from just one. Also, don't smoke the infected weed as the spore could do you damage too.

    Keep a close eye

To be honest my current grow log is my 4th grow in my life, I had one indoor (HPS) and one balcony grow in Germany many moons ago and now I have finished one LED grow, I have an outdoor this year and I have started my second LED grow now. So I guess that 5 grows in all. I just enjoy reading about growing weed and I love it as a hobby. Everything I know came from books, DVDs, YouTube, blogs, websites and threads like this one. I don't know much about a lot of things but we are always learning I guess. I'm just thankful that I have met so many helpful people over the past few years, and wise ones too !

Since you started using the flowering nutes the leaves started curling ? Maybe the PH has dropped. Check the PH level and if its low then you could add some lime to it to bring it back up. Or buy the PH up/down in the grow shops. There might also be a chance that the roots are getting too hot. Maybe check that too.

My friend didn't get any visits from the cops so far. She got it in the first week of April. I think she would have had a visit by now. I think it depends on the customs officer, if they decide to report you or not. I don't think the Gardai are interested in regular guys and gals who just want to grow their own quietly. I would say that they would prefer to spend that energy focusing on the crime gangs who sell million of Euros worth of contaminated weed to kids on the streets. I think a drug should be classified not only by how addictive it can be, but by the damage it can do to individuals, families and communities within the said society. Laws and Gardai are in place in society to keep the people safe, without judges and police the veneer of our highly developed, sophisticated society would soon fade and we would live in a very different, violent world. We would be far from collaborative !

Anyway... I digress... I'd say go for the light. If you have someone you know who could buy it for you and who lives somewhere else then get them to do it. If the cops call to them 2 months later they can tell them that the light broke down, they got no refund and was dumped... Simples

The lights use 1/3 the power of the equivalent HID lighting. You can read all about it on the website. My light uses just 190w of power and is compared to a 600w HID. But even if it turned up the same results as a 400w then I'm still winning with a 50% saving...

You can buy the lights here : Hydroponics Hut dot com.

Good luck with it, you are the second person going down the route of LED today Welcome to the LED community

Just thought I should add that cannabis should not be classified as an illegal drug. There is no evidence that cannabis is addictive, but of course, as humans we have a weakness to repeating something we enjoy Also there is no evidence to support any claim that cannabis causes mental issues or other ill effects to the body. Nobody has ever died from smoking or ingesting cannabis... go figure... How many people have died from alcohol and tobacco ? It's a no brainer really... Pity laws are put in place often due to corruption and greed...
