    10 Day Old Outdoor Plant

I'm new to these forums and new to growing. I'm really excited to grow my first plant.
I put a germinated bagseed in a pot 10 days ago and the plant sprouted in no time (1 day) and so far, it seems to be doing good.
I just have a few newbie questions and am looking for any good advice from some experienced growers.
It's an outdoor grow, all natural (gets water whenever it rains, and gets light whenever the sun is out) for me personally that's the way i wanna do it

Pot - 8in in diameter, and the soil goes roughly 10 in deep, i'm planning on transplanting it when it gets a little larger
Soil - 5 parts fox farm potting soil, 5 parts perlite, and then i threw in 2 parts of some of my own organic compost. I kind of just guessed what to do with the soil, i put a worm in to crawl around but i think he crawled out
And everything else is all natural, sun provides light, rain provides water

When i transplant it should i do it at night so the roots don't see sunlight?
How do you think my plant looks for 10 days old?
Is there anything that you think i should change?
And i heard about covering it with a trashcan or something of sort to force the plant into flowering. As in put the trashcan on at 7PM then take it off at 7AM everyday. Would this work?
    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hey, well done on getting started.

You will need to get the plant out of that pot when the plant is about a foot tall.
The best thing you can do is dig a 2' x 2' hole in your garden and fill that with the soil mix you are using. It better to put the plant in the ground with your soil mix.
If you don put it in the ground then you will need a 10 gallon pot for the plant. Digging a hole is cheaper... if you want it all natural this is the way to go.
    You soil mix is fine.

Putting a worm in the soil is pointless... I have seen people write about that.. non-sense.. buy yourself some worm casting if you want worm shit.

When you plant in the soil be sure there is some sort of a sourse of water if your area generally doesn't get much rainfall. i.e. a river.

You plant looks fine for 10 days. Be sure you plant in a south facing position to maximise the sunlight.

Forget about the trash can idea... It works but your plant will reward you well if you just let nature run its course. Be very patient, the bigger the plant the bigger the yield..
Anyway, if you miss a couple of trash can coverings you could hermie your plant, which isn't good at all. Do you really wan to get up at 7am to put a trash can on a 6 foot plant ?

    Take care

yeah, I'm thinking that digging a hole in the ground with the same soil mix would be easiest because I have plenty of soil. And my area gets medium amounts of rainfall 2-3 times a week so i think its getting plenty of water, i definitely dont want it getting overwatered. I know it's hard to say when a marijuana plant flowers without knowing the strain and generics but do you know when plants start/end flowering, like a rough estimate? Sorry for all the questions I'm just curious.

You plant will start flowering when the days become shorter. Around August is when you might start to see some first signs of sex.

It's not really the genetics or strains (except autos) that define the time to flower, it's the length of daylight.

Your plant should be finished flowering by the end of October. I assume you are living in the northern hemisphere.

I figured i'd post some new pictures now that the plant is 22 days old. I think its a little small.

You could transfer that now to a larger pot (minimum 3 gallon)... watch the watering. Marijuana doesn't like being watered that often (doesn't mean to hardly water it at all!!) and keep the PH around 6 - buy ph testers for that.
