    Help with lights

600watt high preassured sodium ( hps ) are probably the best lights on the market. but if your starting something small your probably best off starting with something cheaper to buy and run. what type of grow are you going for? how many plants, how bigs your space ect?

You can use a few different lights, but the most efficient is the HID light (high intensity discharge), so I will focus on those.
there are two kinds of HID lights: metal halide and high pressure sodium. I prefer to use only HPS as it works very well for both stages of growth

HID lights come in several different sizes. the most common are 400w, 600w, 1000w.

Be sure that you choose a light (or lights) that provides at least 25w of light per square foot for your growing space.

avoid using any kind of florescent lighting in flowering as the plants will produce a lot of leaves and small loose buds low in THC.

Not true my friend, i know plenty of growers using florescent lighting including CFL's, ya just gotta know what your doing.

Here is a link to a random goggle i thought i would back up my point. Im not saying hps for flower and Mh to veg isn't better, but also depends on the room a grower has, not to mention dropping 300 buck on a light set up as a newbie. Maybe after one grow they dont want to grow, waste of cash. I have LED's, but to much these days, anyway here is a link you could use to get cheaper set up.

High Output T5 Fluorescent Plant Grow Light Systems, Bulbs & Accessories at Home Harvest® Garden Supply

Only an example as there are a lotta ways to use different lighting, but it is true hps will flower faster then these types of lighting, but i had rock hard buds under CFL's so look to see what fits your pocket and or space, growing methods. I hope this helps bro,

BTW, man there is a lighting thread that will tell you what different lights can do so i suggest that you get in and do some reading as it will help you with these sorta question and many more you will need to know before your done or even grown a plant. This my friend is easy to do,

    Help with lights

if your on a budget, then you should go for cfl lights or HPS

8 26wat (1700 lumen each) which is about 14,000 lumen. typically the easiest rule of thumb for a plant to grow and produce flowers, the least amount you can use is 2000 lumen per square foot.

so a 4 pack of 26wat bulbs runs around 10-15.00 usd + pluss youll need some sort of sockets to hang them. (you can build a rig similar to mine for cheap. under 40.00 usd)

smaller HPS lights have been surfacing recently in the 150wat & 200 wat range that are fairly cheap 75.00- 200.00 usd, and put out about 20,000-30,000 lumen, but they get HOT, like a spot light, cfl's stay about 80% cooler.

the results I have gotten using cfl lighting, is perfect for my medical cannabis, and is strong enuph to produce medical grade/quality stuff, better than any shop ive been in, except in Holland.

here are my results using 6-10 / 26w cfl lights
