One of the primary reasons for the Sacramento trip last weekend was to lobby our state legislators on upcoming bills that would affect mmj patients. One of the most important is AB 2312.

AB2312, modeled after the initiative petition that never made it to the ballot, has been introduced by our good friend and ally Assemblymember Tom Ammiano. This bill would clear up much of the confusion surrounding current laws (SB420, Prop 215) and would also further protect patients and dispensaries by issuing a statewide system to legally provide for and regulate the commercial distribution, production, and sales of marijuana for medical use. It is not perfect, but way better than the situation now and would provide for at least one storefront collective for every 50,000 people in a city or unincorporated county area.

Hundreds of patients and advocates visited every legislative office in the capitol on Monday so our state legislators are well aware of AB 2312. Now we need one final push to get this bill out of committee and onto the Assembly floor for a vote. We can do it, but you must act today.
There are sixteen members of the Appropriations Committee and the more you can call the better. The only member associated with the Inland Empire area is Assemblyman Tim Donnelly who represents the High Desert area around Hesperia and down to the Redlands area. If you only have time to call a few, call Mr. Donnelly and the Chairman Fuentes and Assistant Chairwoman. Harkey. They are the first three on the list below.
Call them right now even if it is after 5 p.m. If no one answers you can leave a message on their voice mail.
Hereā??s a sample script. Use it or say whatever you want, but be sure and state very clearly that you are in support of AB2312 and you would like the Assembly member to vote for it.
"I am a medical cannabis patient/supporter asking you to vote yes on AB 2312 in the Appropriations Committee this week. Sensible regulations reduce crime and complaints around medical cannabis. AB 2312 raises money and doesnā??t cost any. Please support AB 2312. Thank You."
Call as many of the names below as you can. Each call only takes a minute, but if you can only call a few, please call the first three. When you call Mr. Donnelly, be sure and let him know you live n the Inland Empire. Please take the time to do this today. Time is of the essence.
