Outdoor growing transplant from aeroponics bays please advise Help...
Hey guys i really could use some help advise...
I started my babies in aeroponics setup for the reason they grow so fast problem was i transplanted them from the aeroponics bays. Strait outdoors in the ground. And they were a month old with massive root systems. When i put them in the ground they slouch over thought i lost them but kept watering them every day and after 3 days they all came back looking pretty good.My question is if i don't water them allot when i say allot i mean really soak them they start to slouch the tops start to anyhow and the soil before i water them still is pretty miost.I live up here in Humboldt and we get about 65 to 80 most days. last few days been overcast a bit.THe other thing is allot of my plants have leaves that look burnt even some in post have a few burn leaves. i was thinking it was from the sun due to no being able to into them to the outdoor life graduly.no sure. The one in the ground i used alfalfa and steer manurer along with soil conditioner and lime and a few sacks of compose all organic and we Tilled the hell out of the land.Did same last year had a great crop but did not keep my babies in the bays so long.I like using the aeroponics but for outdoor like to pull then out after 10 days or so when roots are smaller and seem to take to Soil much better.Anyhow if anyone can give some advise on why i seem to have to water so much and what to do about everything .The burn leave are also bugging me not sure why they are doing that. Please help thanks...switchback Reviewed by switchback on . I'm not a hydroponic grower but I would think that going from indoor aeroponic bays to outdoor soil must be quite a shock... An enormous shock.
I would personally stick with sowing the seeds in soil and slowly introduce them to the outdoors. It is far less of a shock to the plants.
The drooping is the result of the plants getting stressed and the roots trying to find their ground in the new medium.
Maybe it might be better if you stuck with aeroponics indoors and keep it 100% soil for outdoors.
The browning on the leaves could be the result of heat stress. You are right, its better to introduce the plants gradually to the outdoors. Although overcast days shouldn't be a big issue.
Perhaps this problem is the result of the stressful experience the plants have had going from aeroponics to soil and indoor to outdoor. A lot happened to the plants.
Also the fertilisers will be very different to what he plant is used to I guess. When they are only 1 month old the soil would nearly be enough to keep them going. I wouldn't over fertilise.
My plants are 5 weeks old, indoor under LED, and I have only given them a very, very light fertilising. Just a taste of things to come. I think I over fertilised last grow and I had a magnesium lockout...
Made the leaves look all yellow and burnt too.
So anyway, that's just my 2 cents, but as I mentioned, I'm not a hydro grower.
Take care.

The watering could also be a reason for the drooping. Don't water excessively.
When the plants go in the ground you should give them a very good watering, but then ease off.
The plants are in the ground yeah ? Did you did a 2 foot hole for each plant and fill it with a good soil mix ? Is there good drainage ? If not the plants could get root rot.
Anyway, one good should be enough in the ground. Leave the plants alone for a week or so then. You mentioned that its overcast and no direct sunlight so the soil will stay moist for a long time, even a few weeks if the hole you dug was deep enough.
Let the plants settle into their new home. The soil doesn't have to be wet all the time, the plants like it to dry out a bit too. Don't worry too much or you might water too much. once a week is enough, even in mid summer. the ground can hold a lot more water than you think.
Take Care
