Hash Oil and Meerschaum pipes

Somebody, on another thread, said that when he saw 2001 A Space Odyssey, in 1968, he and his friends had hash oil. Do any of my fellow old-timers remember when they first had oil? I thought that the first batches of â??Honey Oilâ?� were marketed several years later (around 1970 or 71), followed by various darker types that were supposedly not as good. Special glass pipes, for oil, were sold in head shops.

At the time, some of my friends bought new Hilson meerschaum pipes and broke them in by pouring a gram of oil into the porous materials of the pipes and letting it soak for a few days before smoking weed and/or hash in them. I still have one of those old pipes, given to me around 1975 - it's still usable (although the effect of the oil is long gone). These pipes are NOT the ones that are 100% meerschaum (all white on the outside as well) â?? the meerschaum stone is on the inside only and they have a covering around the exterior â?? mine seems to be covered in some sort of hard stone.

Iâ??m no pipe expert; I usually use a small metal one for the best hit. I haven't used a bong or water pipe in years, although I've had them in the past. Iâ??m thinking about getting a vaporizer.

first oil i tried was in 75-76 cant remember exactly but it was in the spring time and it was very good havnt seen much in the past decade though i think the last i saw was in sacremento at a dead show in the early 90's sure do miss that stuff nothing says wake and bake like a fatty dipped in oil
