Need advice ! Customs spotted my LED Grow light ! Should I risk growing ? Ireland

Hey all,

So my LED light arrived from the US to Ireland today.

Unfortunately the manufacturer had 'LED Light' and beside that 'Hydroponics" clearly written on the packaging for everyone to see !

So I had to sign for the package today because I had to pay â?¬60 in taxes to have it. Customs stopped it, opened the attached document in the plastic cover and proceeded to

read everything about the contents in the box. WTF ! That doesn't sound right to me.

So my question is: Should I not grow weed for the first 3 months and see if the cops come to my door with a search warrent ? Maybe put some strawberries ans tomatoes up

there instead ? If customs told the local cops then the cops would be smart enough to wait 2 months before raiding the house.

Any advice would be great. Maybe from a customs official if possible

Wow,,That's pretty stupid shipping something out like that with all the markings on the box,,they should have put a green weed leaf on the box while they're at it,,,,you should make the company that sent it to you aware of this for the future,,not sure what would really happen, your idea is the best at the present moment to grow tomatoes and cucumbers for awhile,,,why take chances? good luck!

it's always better to be safe than sorry

if space & money weren't an issue, i'd love to have a veggie grow room with fresh, organic tomatoes, cucumbers, and the works for the winter

that would be awesome!

for all the customs guys know, you might have some exotic reptiles or fish that require extra UV rays

well, we know what they were probably thinking, but there are legitimate uses for those bulbs too

I like to make grow logs and I was interested in growing some interesting strains. I make them on WordPress.

You can see my last grow log in my signature. I would love to grow some colourful strains. All LED and CFL.

I have a tent for 4 plants and a friend has a tent for 6 - 9. If you might be interested in doing some business I would be happy to show off your strains

would you be interested in a UK-based source for lights & such?

it might not completely bypass customs - that's a gray area for me, but you could avoid having hydro stamped all over it.

the US is so big & nothing internal goes through customs. in fact, there are plenty of legitimate storefront shops that sell nothing but hydroponic equipment. they probably never thought it would cause you a problem.
