    Life Insurance

I have a urine screen coming up for employer paid life insurance coverage. I am 7 days clean at this point. I should have at least another 7 days before the test and I am going to try to stall it even further. In the past, it has taken me about 25 days to pass a lab test. I do not really exercise much, have a little bit of excess body fat but I am not obese, have a moderate metabolism, and smoke moderately. The life insurance company sent a letter to both me and my employer. The urine test along with a blood test will be conducted by a traveling nurse who will come to me. I have been employed for several months now and passed a pre-employement screen prior to starting. I was never provided with any information regarding a company drug policy. On my application for life insurance, I indicated that I did not use any substances. I am aware that THC is rarely grounds for declining coverage if you indicate it on the application, but my employer was processing my application. I have the following questions:

If I fail the test, am I likely to be denied coverage?

If I am denied coverage for failing, will my employer be notified of the reason?

If I am denied coverage for failing and my employer finds out why, can I legally be terminated since there is no written policy in place?

If I am forced to take the test before I am ready, would it be a good idea to over dilute with hopes of retesting to buy more time?

Does synthetic urine (Quickfix, etc.) work for insurance UA? I was told that they would also be checking for blood in my urine. Will they be able to detect if synthetic urine was used (because of creatinine or hormone levels) since it seems this is more than just a traditional drug screen?

Have there been cases where synthetic urine has been detected?

Is it possible to mix synthetic urine with semi-clean urine so metabolite levels are low while other characteristics of the urine (creatinine, hormones, odor, color, etc.) remain natural?

I would appreciate any insight or advice.

Are you allowed to decline the life insurance? Is there any reason to have it? Do you have any dependents (wife, kids)?

Synthetic urine should not be used if a full-blown medical test is performed. The synthetic urine would conceal any diseases or other health-related issues that you may not be aware of in which the medical test would bring to your attention.

For the sake of argument - If the 'semi-clean' urine sample contains metabolite levels low enough to register below the cutoff limit of the drug screen, then why not use it as a whole instead of mixing it with synthetic?
And how would you know how low the levels were without paying to have a quantitative analysis (GC/MS) performed? The Immunoassay screen (as well as the home assays) wouldnt tell you diddly-squat. They are a pass/fail endeavor.

I can decline but its packaged with disability leave. And yes there are dependents. I would like to decline but I am worried that it would look suspicious if I did only after the UA was mentioned.

Wouldn't it be in my interest to conceal any health issues that may be present since that could impact whether or not I get approved for coverage?

I have had multiple samples tested in the lab before so I have a good idea of what my levels are now and how long I need to wait before I am below the cutoff (21-25 days). If that much time has not passed but it is close, would externally mixing with synthetic work?
