    pruning??

One of my ladies has streaked ahead of her sisters by a good 15"s, i'm about 2-3 weeks into flowering so i've got a good crop of fingernail sizes buds popping. I'm worried that the vertical growth spurt will cause problems when a kola begins to develop as I'm already restricted in space.

SO my question is CAN i lop the extra length off without damaging the plant ie If I cut it off at a bud site will they become the kola?

And would I be able to coax some roots off the cutting to give as a gift to a friend?

(indoor tent grow, in soil. They had about 5 weeks of veg so they where strong before I changed to 12/12. Even then this girl was tall. I rigged up a bubbler last week and this seems to have given them all a boost)

    Any feedback gladly recieved

    pruning??

I'm having the same problem with my grow at the moment. Into the second week of flower and I have 5 plants of varying height. I need to get down to just 2 or three healthy plants for the space I've got then I'm going to create a makeshift SCROG to manage the height and make the most of my space. You Could top yours but it may be too stressful for the plant now and you'll reduce yield. Also, taking clones at this stage is still possible but not advisable. That should really be done in the veg stage. Have a read up on SCROG setups and see if you can gently train your plants to maintain an consistent canopy. That's what I'm going to do. Check out my thread http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...-10-years.html so you can see my setup. It's getting a little crowded in there!

    Good luck!

I would top it now. Any later and you may risk herming. If you can, Id try bending the top over. Pinching the top just below the newest growth so it falls over, do not break it. It takes about 5 days for it to stand back up. But by this time you should have another top roughly the same size. You can chop it completely, jus be mindful of stress.

I'm sure there are some who would disagree with me, but I have done what you're talking about several times. It works just fine, go ahead and take it off. Plus, yes you can get roots out of it as a cutting, it shouldn't take too much longer than normal, but it could, just be patient. Also if you cut it off at a bud site, then yes that will become the new top and the plant will focus energy there. How dominant of a cola it becomes depends on what stage your plant is in, if its nearly done stretching or slowing down on the number of flowers its making, and focusing more on swelling up the flowers it has.. then it likely won't stand out as a dom. cola simply because the time to grow isn't available anymore.

Again, people may disagree with me, but thats my thoughts on the subject. I suggest you go ahead and cut that top off. Its better to have more stress earlier on and all at once, than have constant stress throughout the whole growth until harvest, at least as far as my experience tells me. Good luck brahhh. Make sure to email me back soon. I got a question for yahz.

hey fellas, thnaks for the feedback. I bent the stem over and left it attached.. The damn bud has changed direction and is still growing. It all seems healthy enough so I'm gonna leave it attached. Its not going to hit my light so all seems well.
