Starting my first grow!
For watering, a good idea for seedlings and young plants is to water from the bottom, up. If you have a pot with holes in the bottom, sitting in a dish of some sort (which should be what you have) pour some ph'd water into the tray and let it soak up into the soil from the holes in the bottom of the pot. This will cause the roots to sense the higher moisture levels down lower, and encourage vigorous growth. Do this process slowly, and try to figure out exactly how much water your plant/container holds, feel free to sprinkle some on top as well. Just make sure that you don't leave any water sitting in the tray that the plant's soil can't soak up, dump out all the excess. Continue this when the top layer of soil has dried out to the touch and you shouldn't have problems with over/under watering.
As for lights, if you want to use a light indoors to help the seedlings out you should use some type of flourescent. The best ones to use would be 23W CFL (equal to 100W incandescent). Get the ones with a color temp or "Kelvin rating" of somewhere between 5000k-6500k. Those may also be labeled "Bright white, daylight", or something like that. Avoid the ones labeled "warm white, soft white" or that have a lower Kelvin rating, such as 3500k or less. If you get 16-18 hours of sunlight by keeping them in the window, then you shouldn't need to supplement with a light if you plan on moving them outdoors.
Keep me posted on how you're doing, and let me know if you have more questions!Minnesnowta Reviewed by Minnesnowta on . Starting my first grow! So very recently I have moved in with my Grandparents to help around the house. (Grandpa is getting to that age.) And unfortunately my Grandmother suffered a stroke a few years back and never recovered. I recently got her to quit smoking cigs and got her back on the good ole herb. She has been doing a lot better since that transition and can sometimes complete sentences which is great progress! Problem is, bud cost money and money is tight. It's not always the best deals at the dispensaries. So Rating: 5
