    Time to harvest? PICS!

Right, I've been studying pics of ripe trichomes and I think I know what to look for now.... I see they are not ready but I'm just posting an update on the tiny buds... man it does smell delicious! chocolate ice cream and mango.

daozen Reviewed by daozen on . Time to harvest? PICS! It's only been 4 weeks of flowering but it's a tiny plant grown on a 5-inch pot, and the trichomes seem to be getting milky... Is it going to be ready in a few days or a couple of weeks? ps. There's also pics of my other 3 plants, 2 of them doing pretty bad, but it was down to soggy soil (bad mix from the start) and overfertilization (probably as result of poor drainage), I took them out of their pots , carefully ran the faucet over the roots for a while and then trasnplanted them to a bit Rating: 5

Still appears too early to me. The bud doesn't look mature enough. Are you sure you can see some amber trichomes? I'm just sayin form experience if I looked at that bud I probably wouldn't even scope it yet to see the trichomes. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck. Keep postin updates

Daozen how far along is she now anyways? Just wondering in response to your fear of the light leakage causing it to hermy. I'm guessing you're at like 6 weeks based on when I previously read through this thread, not based on pictures or what I've seen, but just what you said earlier. If shes at 6 weeks of flowering and your pistils are over halfway changed over to orange, then I wouldn't be too worried about a hermy problem, especially if its the only exposure to light during dark periods, she shouldn't suffer a whole lot of stress from that. If anything, yes you might find a couple little pollen sacks that you can remove without problems as long as you're careful. Otherwise I don't think it has enough time left to really develop a devastating amount of male parts, but I could definitely be wrong. I don't have much experience dealing with hermies, in fact I really have none.. until now. I just identified one male part on one of my females that is about 5 weeks into flowering. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until it had already opened, and I searched pretty hard and only found the one pollen sack.. so I'm not sure how mine will turn out. I think I am going to keep it alive until I notice problems or find anymore male parts.

Also, I'm glad someone mentioned to you that smaller plants/smaller buds do not ripen faster. I think a lot of people assume otherwise and try to grow small plants and harvest them when they're too young. The only time saving part of growing small plants is the veg period, which can further be reduced by cloning. Good luck with everything man. And.. chocolate mango for a smell? Thats interesting haha.

She is... 5 weeks into flowering now (it's from the time the first pistils are visible right? she was vegged under natural sunlight 12/12 anyway). I haven't seen any pollen sacks, but I haven't checked her so closely, how big/small are they? I've never seen them before.... yeah, it was some street light and I left her out for about 4 hours tops. Hopefully it's all good. Chocolate mango is not a good mix to be honest, but its nice if I focus on one or the other smell, lol.

    Thanks for your insightful response!

The pollen sacks look somewhat similar to the starting of female flowers, only they look more like a ball than a tear drop. And the female flowers will quickly show at least the start of pistils coming out, where the pollen sacks will need to fatten up and fill with pollen before opening, so they remain a ball with no pistils exposed. If the pollen sack opens.. it'll kinda look like a yellow banana sticking out of it, for lack of a better explaination. I would just google image search for pictures of male parts and then search your plant. I would bet money on the fact that the 4 hours of extra light didn't cause it to hermy. If you do find male parts at all then its probably either genetics, or caused by something else, or perhaps just a combo of things.

Also, people usually record their flowering time from the first day they switch lights to 12/12. Not when the first pistils appear. When it starts showing pistils it should be about a week into flowering, or it would be a mature enough plant to have pre-flowers, which may show some small pistils as well.

    After only 5 -6 weeks I can't possibly imagine that she's ready.
Do youself a very huge favor...(imagine it's your birthday or something)...And get your self a 10 dollar hand held microscope...A 30 power is plenty powerful.
BTW...It looks as though you are able to grow outside.
And...I would like to see some pics of the whole plant... Yeah?

This has got to be ready!!!! I see plenty of amber trichs! no?

If and when I harvest would it be best to harvest the top bit and leave the rest for a few more days? I want absolute peak THC but I don't know if being such a small plant changes anything? Thanks!!!

I don't want to sacrifice yield and I'm looking at these pics and it seems maybe they are almost but no quite ready. I won't be able to get a magnifier, don't know where to get one in this country.

Anyway, I would like the max amount of milky trichs (5-15% amber), is this not it? (I did my best getting close-ups of to trichs)

Sorry if I'm posting too much but I just want to do it right! thanks!
