    I want to compst my own fertilizer for my plants

    I want to compost my own fertilizer for my plants but im not sure what all my plants would need in it other then just the normal stuff you put in your compost.... Anyone make there own plant food or fertilizer.. if so i would love some words of wisdom

    I want to compst my own fertilizer for my plants

    Compost is compost, no special ingredients needed. In general you want to keep a 1:1 mix of green ingredients (grass clippings, vegetable scraps) and brown ingredients (shredded paper, sawdust from untreated wood). You'll want to avoid adding meats, grease and dairy but rinsed, crushed egg shells are fine. Composting happens the quickest between 104 and ~135 degrees. Purchasing a thermometer to determine the temperature at the center of your pile will help you judge when to turn it. Best of luck to you :thumbsup:
